Has anyone had any issues upgrading TBC from v2.6 to v2.7? One of our IT guys was trying to do the upgrade on my machine, running Windows7 Enterprise, and things did not go as planned.
From his email to me: "Got about 75% through the 2.60 to 2.7 update, the installation could not continue and had to rollback.
After this, TBC was no longer installed, and could not be installed. The installation fails. There was more detailed information in the install log files."
So now I've got nothing. According to Windows, TBC does not exist on my machine, but it also will not allow it to be installed.
Any thoughts?
I have been trying to upgrade from 2.6 to 2.7 for the last two days.
I have downloaded the 2.6 to 2.7 "upgrade" file and the full 2.7 install. Neither will install and include the following error message: "The extended attributes are inconsistent."
I went to work in the garden, instead.
I got it installed but it took a l o n g time.
Interesting.
I upgraded from 2.6 to 2.7 on my Windows 7 Enterprise computer and it worked without a problem.
I downloaded the update directly from the Trimble support site and ran it.
The download and install took some time (I always reboot the system before I do an install like this).
I know of many other users at this company as well as others doing the update on Windows 7 Enterprise and no one reported a problem.
I know this isn't particularly helpful in this instance, but it suggests that the problem may not be with the install program but rather a local issue.
You might try doing a Windows System Restore to the point before the TBC 2.7 upgrade.
Download and run CCleaner. Let it fix any registry problems it finds, it will create a current backup for you before doing so. Then uninstall TBC, if it is showing up as an installed program. Then clean your registry again, then download and run the full install of 2.7, not the 2.6 to 2.7 upgrade.
Thanks to all for your replies.
We've upgraded one other machine running XP and had no issue. I am thinking this is just a Windows7 snafu as well. Windows7 automatically does a rollback when an install fails, and since we are still having trouble, I think we will give Ccleaner a shot and see what happens.
Thanks again!
My experience upgrading to TBC 2.7 mirrors Mr. Magic's.... it is a slow process but it went fine. It is a big upload.
I have customers who have done it successfully, so...might be a local issue.
I am not saying that loading and installing TBC is not a bee-hatch sometimes....
