What a Monday. So I updated today or shall we say I tried to update to 2024.10 so I could do some internal testing before all other stations are updated. Cannot import via any method drag and drop import navigate to folder a .job/.jxl file. Cannot use the gear at top to make any changes to the default new project. Cannot change or set coordinate system.
I have tried the repair. I have ran and reinstalled using the cleanup program. This I have done several times today and still no luck. I have never had this much of an issue with Trimble. Dealer wants me to archive a project. I am like there will be nothing in the project because I can’t set any units nor coordinate system and no data will import. Not a good Monday. Has anyone else upgraded to TBC 2024.10.
I updated 3 days ago, everything seems fine.
@sluggo gotcha. I think we have some IT security software that’s doing something so it’s missing some stuff in the executable. But I am no IT person but my gut says that’s what is going on. I reverted back to 2024.01 and it is fine. Something about the 2024.10 that has me and dealer stumped. I will give it another go tomorrow maybe it had to much turkey and dressing over the weekend lol.
@sluggo I need it. I also realized that when I updated my Trimble access emulator now it will not work. I was wanting to test some things on it before updating the crews to make sure all was good. Has to be some security or spam virus software that’s causing all of this I imagine.

Might seem like a stupid question. Whenever I download install files I make sure to run them through virus scans before moving them to the server. Once I've done that I look at the properties on tha file and Unblock them, have you done that?
Also are you making sure to run the install file as administrator?
I find that when I'm having problems with an install, but nobody else is, it usually means I missed something simple.
@bobwesterman Yeah tried all of that. We did find or my IT guy saw one of our virus and security software did find some of the things and marked them as malicious or whatever that means. He did say they have now whitelisted it so maybe this coming week it will work. What is crazy is. Yesterday I tried relaunching my access emulator that I had also updated to the latest version amazingly opened and worked. So now playing with the dark mode and will be testing the upgraded taped distance method and comparing that ability to adjust for houses etc. I have to see if the help menu actually explains the math behind how it is adjusting that so I can wrap my head around it and see if it would be something we would implement. It will probably be mid week as I am getting things together for a big ALTA next week for the crews. Been reading through all the deeds and such to give the crews an idea of things they need to be on the look out for as they begin searching and looking for all the evidence. One of those that multiple tracks and portion of tracks become one BLA stuff. I will be giving it another go though on TBC hopefully asap. My IT guy should be back next week and he is the expert with all those other settings I am by no means a IT person.
I did like the dark mode for access. I have to get a crew to test that in the field. Makes seeing yellow lines much easier but obviously I am in an office setting so might be different in field. In sun and cloudy and in deep woods. But I did like that feature.
@olemanriver does the Trimble Acces Emulator need a license? Where to find & How to install?
@christ-lambrecht So I first download the Trimble instillation manager to my desktop. The same software that allows you to update receiver’s firmware Trimble access and scanners etc. next I forget exactly but it should read your computers name. I then give that to my dealer. He gives me a license for Trimble access emulator. Do not install the Trimble access until you get confirmation from your dealer . It is free if you have a licensed version of Trimble access already I believe and under maintenance agreement. The dealer should be able to walk you through this. I actually use it a lot. I use the curve calculator often when checking lots or plats we all know sometimes it’s a typo or rounding error for different parts of a curve so I keep it handy. Any new field codes I will do a little desktop survey on emulator to see how it works and then bring that into TBC and Check that way. It has a GNSS joystick. I also create a manual total station survey styles so I can key in angles distances and such also. I wish they would make a s series robot joy stick thing like the RTK one. To see how to use it the RTK rover portion YouTube has a few videos I believe. Google surveying with Robert I think he has a short video on there. The emulator is great for walking a new crew chief through a process as you can see the same screen he is on. If your memory is like mine and I can’t always remember exactly where something is like a coho function etc. or a setting. I have in the past created the survey styles in that and exported them to all field collectors. It allows some testing of new versions to Ck for bugs. I will take an old survey and type in the same raw data as if it were being done to check for things once. In a while.
Thanks, great info that you can't find elsewhere. I know what to do!
@christ-lambrecht anytime. Good luck. Yeah many tools out there that sometimes just pays dividends. That is one of them. I found an old folder on our old laptop with an old survey controller emulator on it from my days as a Trimble instructor. I would use it to create screen snaps to make a little cheat sheet for new companies. So the crews could refer to it for certain things. I might have to do that again with this one. lol.
