PDF to TIFF

I found one on the Internet called UPDF. When I tried to make a purchase it triggered a fraud alert. My bank won't let me purchase anything outside the U.S. so they may not be a fraud.

Irfanview is a free for personal use, pay a small fee for business use image processing program. You have to install a PDF module separately to view/edit them. It's powerful and fast when processing a large image. The user interface is just pull-down menus. Simple, but a little not-user-friendly. It's not a commercial product, so free of the bells and whistles that bog down your computer.

Agreed, IrfanView is great for all kinds of conversions.

I wasn't able to make Irfanview convert a PDF. In fact it will not even recognize the format. No file type PDF exists on the list of types to convert. So I may be doing it wrong or have the wrong download.

I was able to talk to my bank and clear the transaction for UPDF and that works great. Just drag and drop the PDF file and select export image to TIFF.

If you ever have to convert a coordinated GeoPDF to another format to load in as a background layer then [REDACTED] is the Swiss army knife. Will convert between pretty much anything, inc GeoTIFF, JPG, GIF, & TIFF with world files, ECW, KML etc. And if the image isn't georeferenced it's great for image rectification. Great for plans and historic maps etc. And the functionality is even better across every vector format imaginable.

You need to download and install a plugin after installing Irfanview in order to view & edit PDF format files. Check the Irfanview website. It will direct you to a link for downloading the plugin needed.

Bluebeam does that, but we're usually going the other route. Tiff to PDF. Bluebeam is not free and not cheap.

Download screenshot captor, its free and takes very high quality snippets of anything that you can then save as almost any type of image file. Captor is free.

GIMP does a nice export to pdf. It's free (open source)

Pricey, but my version of Adobe Acrobat 9 allows you to save a PDF to TIFF just from the File->Save As menu.
