@wendell

I had planned to install wall mounts and found that not all monitors are fitted for that purpose.

I have 2 27" curved monitors for my workstation and I love them for CAD and research. Thinking of upgrading one to a 32" sometime this year though.?ÿ

I have a three monitor setup in my office.?ÿ A normal resolution 24" and 25" along with a 4k 27".?ÿ I would be careful about mixing 4k monitors.?ÿ Things just get weird when swapping windows around in different screens.?ÿ I'm thinking about ditching the older monitors for a couple of new 4k 27" or a wide screen version.?ÿ As far as the head turning thing, it is more of an issue with my progressive lenses.?ÿ I just wear readers when working on the computer.

Pair of 27in HP 27es here.?ÿ Paid like $120ea for them.?ÿ I would never go smaller than 27in for CAD, but for me, using duel, not sure much bigger would work.

I have one right in front of me, and one to the left, on a little wood stand so center of screen is in line of sight.?ÿ CAD on right, other stuff on left.?ÿ I think the key is that I have them set back 36in from my head, at the back of my desk, which I extended another foot back.?ÿ That way I have my keyboard, mouse and a ton of papers right here in front of me.

@james-fleming

I don't think many of those without grey hair are going to know what those are.  We still have one a couple of towns over from us and the closest movie complex, which used to be a drive-in, as an area they have set up as a temporary drive-in during the summer.

@james-fleming

I strongly prefer seeing movies this way with the whole family.  There's a chain here in SW Ontario that we frequent:

http://premiertheatres.ca/theaters

Just easier w/ kids, etc.

@john-putnam My 10-year old boy knew what it was.?ÿ I watched the Outsiders with him a couple of years ago.?ÿ He says there is a drive-in theater in Fortnite

@bstrandI run a 4k 43" smart tv along side of my 17" laptop at the office.?ÿ The only drawback I have is I mounted the 43 on the wall about 4 inches too high.?ÿ I will make the adjustment when the office moves.?ÿ No timetable on that yet but already have idea on mounting height to work.?ÿ Can't run it on the stands it comes with.

?ÿThis was the setup before I wall mounted it.

@jaccen

I just noticed that the local drive-in now charges by the person.  Gone are the days of stuffing as many of my college friends into a home made Bonneville convertible on a warm summer night.  I don't remember a single movie I saw that way, but I do remember a lot of the debauchery.

@andy-j

I'll bet that in 20 years today's idea of monitor, keyboard, and mouse will be as laughable as the 12 key digitizer pad and monochrome monitor are today. Looking forward to wearable tech - your whole computer the size of a smartphone - VR glasses, and hand gestures.

@eddycreek

Yeah, some simulators can get pretty intense:

https://arstechnica.com/cars/2018/08/this-isnt-a-game-we-try-out-a-professional-driver-in-the-loop-simulator/

https://www.adelaidenow.com.au/feature/special-features/man-flies-boeing-737-in-his-backyard/news-story/1567032002f6cb973f048be965eee135?nk=32c34b7403b53268a669aa884443b544-1590148625

Makes the Logitech racing wheel and joystick I used in high school look pretty pathetic.

For me personally 2x 24inch or 27inch+ laptop works well.

I bought one of my guys a 32 and he HATED it cause he said it was too big

Could be an eyesight thing. For me, anything bigger than a 15" is outside the center of useful eyeglasses astigmatism correction and I have to keep turning my head to make anything focus.

for CAD I like 1920x1200 dual setup.

like more vertical and everything looks good, no scaling needed.

1.?ÿ hp z24n g2 monitor is my preferred, if it can be found for less than 300.00 each. (i have 6 ????, 4 at work 2 at home)

2. ASUS ProArt Display PA248QV (link below)

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B088BC5HKF/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A2KN9K54F1HXTQ&psc=1

both above monitors come with pro calibration, so when setup side by side, they look identical!!

?ÿ

I'm using a three monitor rig, 1x32" & 2x28", and I love it.?ÿ I'm actually contemplating replacing one of the 28" units.?ÿ Sometimes it is a little confusing when a pop up window gets lost but that is more of an AutoDesk thing.?ÿ I gave up on my progressive lenses and just use readers when at the work station.

Will the people using the monitors be over 50 years old? The distance from screen to face is likely to be greater for larger monitors. People who are not young are likely to need a custom eyeglasses prescription for a large monitor. If they already have such a prescription for a small monitor, they will probably have to change the lenses for the new monitors.

When I worked for IBM, the company paid for a set of glasses just for using the computer (large CRT monitors at that time). But they insisted on plastic frames and thick lenses that met safety glasses standards. I couldn't wear them because they were so heavy they hurt my nose. I ended up buying my own.
