Somebody sent me a file, that is in SOME later version of acad than mine. Mine is 2009. I have tried to install "True Convert" but it has so many snags... it wants all kinds of things.

So, could I sent it to you and get it converted back to 2009?

I think it is 2012.

thank you

Nate

GOT IT!!!

Thank you so much, Brad, and Christ!!!

Why is it, that there seems to be more details than time to solve them?

Nate, I might be wrong but I think that Dwg TrueConvert can't handle anything newer than Acad 2007, true at least for the version I have and I've never found a newer version. However, the free trial version of 'Any dwg to dxf' appears to handle and convert all dwg's to dxf and I discovered by accident that it would convert Acad 2012 directly to Acad 2005, don't think it's supposed to, but it didn't corrupt the file either. Might be safer to use it to go Acad 2012 to dxf then to Acad 2009.

I have abandoned "True Convert". It wants too many things. If I need to convert more than an occasional, then I think I will stay with the Brad Ott, or Christof Conversion services!

I spent 5 hrs yesterday, trying to get TRUE CONVERT to do the job.

Brad and Christof are MUCH easier to get along with!

TrueView has TrueConvert built in. It will handle acad 2013 dwgs.

I could not get it to install correctly in my computer. All I can think of is that is is invasive. I do not see why it needed that level of resources, to install a conversion software.

Nate

DWG TrueView 2013 installed on my Windows 7 Pro 64 bit machine without a problem. AutoDesk does preload the Akamai NetSession Inteface secure tool to power the download process for their software. It can be deleted afterwards if you wish, but it isn't maleficent...hey there is a word I don't get to use often.

You can read about Akamai NetSession here.

Glad you got it resolved. But long term, the only real solution to to upgrade to Acad Civil 3D 2013. 😀 At least that's what Autodesk is telling me. My 30 day trial just expired and I never figured out how to get contours drawn.:-@

Thanks. I know upgrading is necessary. Eventually.

I want a bunch of things in my data collector too. Things nobody does yet.
