I'm having trouble dumping my explorer 2 to my laptop. We use a usb to serial cable and I have the baud rate, parity, & stop bits values matching, and I can view the file list on the remote but when I go to transfer a file it says "Kermit Failed Error in file transfer 0"...I can dump to my desktop at the office but it would be nice to dump to the laptop in the field. Any help is greatly appreciated.

PS: I'm using Carlson Survey 2008 on the laptop

I assume that you are using the SurvCom transfer.

If so, are you using it with ActiveSync or through a serial cable?

At some point, Carlson moved the ActiveSync selection from the bottom of the Com port list to the top so I am not certain where it is but if you are not using ActiveSync as the medium, I would suggest trying that.

Yes, I am transferring through SurvCom. I have a a usb-serial cable (usb at the comp., serial at the D.C.) I tried using the activesync and it says that I don't have the current version. ? I just got the laptop 3 months ago. I was thinking about trying the bluetooth but I have to think that will be more difficult.

On my explorer I need to select "PC Link" on the Data collector prior to entering SurvCE and then selecting Data Transfer
