Asking how most with RT4's upload from data collector.

I am telling field crew to make new directory for each crd or "job" in collector, then use filezilla to sync to our ftp for now.

What are other options?

A colleague of mine uses dropbox to store the job files.?ÿ Easily grab files from the office, upload jobs, etc.?ÿ I will be looking to do the same.

tried google drive but when "download" you get current time stamp, not likey.

Just found RT4 dock on web, looks like good option. Big monitor & real keyboard, plus charging without pulling back rubber cover for power plug.

we just do daily dumps through a usb stick.?ÿ and yeah- every job has it's own folder in the DC.

it's as straightforward a process as any.

Not an rt4 but I use a Panasonic windows 10 tablet and I got our IT guy to connect it to our server so as soon as I connect to the work wifi I can copy and paste the entire job folder into the correct sub folder on our network. It's handy during Covid because I can do it in the parking lot.?ÿ

Another crew has their tsc7 actually set up so it can access the server over wifi hotspot from their phone do they can get uploads or plans etc while in the field. I'm going to try to get mine set up the same.?ÿ

I use a cloud service (Google Drive) on all my PC's and DC. Map the folder as drive a G:.

Whenever I'm connected to WiFi or a cell modem the files are automatically synced with the Google Cloud.?ÿ

?ÿ

No need to copy/paste/over write or erase.

I suggest using microsoft one drive.?ÿ super easy and all the crews have access to any file for upload and download.?ÿ office can access the same files as well.?ÿ?ÿ

Itƒ??s not an RT4, but Iƒ??m running SurvPC on Windows 10 on a Panasonic tablet.

When the desktop is back in the office, it sits on a shelf powered on, charging, and connected to Wifi. ?ÿI then remote desktop into it from my office PC and copy files to/from a server drive. ?ÿ I use FreeFileSync to copy whole directories.

With remote desktop (itƒ??s a feature built into Windows), the ?ÿkeyboard and big monitor on your office PC are used to ƒ??driveƒ? your tablet ?ÿYou donƒ??t need a second keyboard and monitor for the tablet ?ÿ

I had to upgrade the tablet to Windows 10 Pro to allow the remote desktop. ?ÿRemote desktop is handy for tablet maintenance tasks like upgrading SurvPC, cleaning out old files, etc. ?ÿSurvPC runs very well in remote desktop too if you want to get a new job setup while sitting at your desk instead of out in the rain.?ÿ

We do something similar.

1. OneDrive to upload pictures, files, receipts, etc.?ÿ If you already have a business Office 365 email account, you likely already have 1 Tb of data storage.?ÿ You're paying for it--may as well use it.

2. VPN directly to the server to upload/download files.?ÿ Just set up a hotspot and you're connected.

?ÿ

We have not set up file sync'ing software yet, but it's on the "To Do" list.
