I'm stuck. I can't get the symbols to behave the way I want them to. I would like to be able to freeze the points and have the symbols remain visible.
The way I have it set up the symbols freeze and thaw along with the point attributes. Is there a setting to make the symbol independent from the block?
"erase points" second option "Erase point symbols" Select "NO". Then bring in your points via "Draw,Locate Points".
My standard routine is to run field to finish, erase all the points and then run field to finish again with only points and linework selected. That breaks the link an allows you to insert the points all you want without affecting the symbols.
You need to check the box in field code definition, Distinct Point Layer.
This way your symbol and your point block will be on different layers.
If you're doing that already, but are freezing by the LOFF command, and click on the point block, it will freeze both the point block and symbol layers. So, try freezing using the dialogue box or just the LA command, and typing the layer name.
Thanks for the replies. Exactly what I needed.
This is the other one that can get you flustered.
Even if it is correct in F2F if someones object grouping box is checked, the node will be attached to the symbol. I could not get it to work on my co-workers computer but it was fine on mine. Now I know.
You can also set the "Separate Attribute Layers" to "Symbols" and specify the layer for the symbols.
I have mine set to to use no symbol and pdmode set to 35, which gives me an autocad node. I then have draw second symbol set in f2f, my points and symbols come in similar to ldd.
