Well, my trusty HP printer has started giving me trouble. I believe the model is F4140. I have been using it in the truck and on the road for about 5 or 6 years. It has done a pretty good job for being lugged and bounced around. The last two road trips it had started giving me cartridge errors, even with new cartridges.
I decided it was time to replace it. I had spent more time messing around with it trying to troubleshoot than it was worth.
I just purchased (2) Brother MFC-J470Dw printers to replace it. I got one for the truck, and one for the small workstation that I set up in the home office. I can use the same settings for both, and have multipage scanning capabilities in the house or the truck. I have the Brother MFC6490 in the office when I am out there working on the desktop.
The printers arrived today, and I just got the first one setup on the wireless network. My wife will be able to use the auto document feeder for scanning, and she is going to like it.
I am pleased so far. The printing looks pretty good, and I will like the ability to scan legal size documents (deeds) into the laptop. Thelast printer wuld only scan letter size on the flat bed. It is a little larger than the other printer I was using in the truck, but the way I have the truck set up. it should work very nicely.
I have a road trip for next week, so I will get to test out the one for the truck pretty soon. It will be set up with a usb connection.
Have a good one!
Jimmy
I have the MFC J430 and am very happy with it.
Are you using an inverter to power the printer in the truck?
Yes, I either use an inverter or a self contained inverter/battery pack.
I don't have it in the truck everyday, but I do when I am on construction sites and traveling.
