Here's the next stupid question.?ÿ I'm still trying to get the arc labels set, but trying to use the Stack Label Arc command.?ÿ From my previous post, you can see that I was successful in getting a Delta symbol in the label, but when I tried setting that in this Options box, I now am stuck with this error message.?ÿ I can't dismiss the message box, can't escape out of the command, and of course I've gone too long without doing a save.?ÿ Any suggestions?

By the way, it says to use MText to have a delta symbol..., but I don't even see a setting for using MText instead of individual labels.

I feel your pain... wish I knew the answers..?ÿ I can't seem to get the label formatting to do anything.?ÿ?ÿ Could that be disabled???ÿ

re the leaders.?ÿ when you first use the command, isn't there an "O" options or "S" settings choice??ÿ?ÿ I think it's there that you can tweak how the leaders are made and layers etc.?ÿ?ÿ just going from memory here.?ÿ

@blitzkriegbob pick the "General Settings" button, which brings up the "Annotate Defaults" dialog. "Use Mtext" is a pick button there in the first ("General") tab.

I gave up on using the Delta symbol a long time ago. The symbol often disappears from the label for no apparent reason. I just use "D" to label the Delta angle.

Carlson support is great but I have learned of a few bugs or shortcomings that will be fixed in the next release: Heard that before?

Labeling, no Annotating on an arc, if the text is a simplex font and there is a number 1, the spacing puts the numbers on top of each other. Other fonts do better. I'm looking for a font that looks something like simplex but works. Duplex??ÿ The text spacing setting for labeling or putting text on curves doesn't work at all.?ÿ

Also autosave doesn't work. I know it's my fault if I don't save, but when learning I have a crash every now and then.?ÿ

I just tried Duplex and Romans fonts. They're worse.?ÿ

I love using Carlson 2020 with ICad. Although I am also one of those people that does not use a lot of the functions of the program, but am learning as I go.

My suggestion would be to take advantage of their technical support, even for "stupid" questions. They have really helped me out of some problems that I could not figure out for the life of me.

I started the carlson survey icad adventure yesterday. My AutoCad days started with Autocad 286. Should be interesting...

For the foot "tick" mark symbol, explore Annotate -- Annotate Defaults and visit the Distance tab as shown below:

(explore the other tabs to set the settings as desired)

Once you've set a collection of settings, you can Save them to a named file (let's call it an annotation style) that can be recalled later via the Load button.

Adding a suffix is not an option for arcs. At least not anywhere that I've found.

Set your letters setting to 1.125 wide or so to get your spacing father apart and make them more readible. Works great in Romans text

Thanks! I knew I'd seen it somewhere, but I couldn't go exploring since I was in an endless loop.  It could be that I don't use the delta symbol either. Yesterday I kept it with the "D" then converted the string of text to dtext, then inserted a delta symbol to replace the "D".

There are no options or settings. It goes straight to selecting either Linework or Points.

We actually did contact technical support about this issue before we started working from home.  I first encountered this issue prior to this project, and asked the office Carlson expert about it.  He didn't know the answer, and emailed technical support. I remember asking him a few days later if he had heard anything back, and he hadn't.  Maybe he has since then.  We are currently due back in the office on Star Wars day, so I'll check with him then to find out if he found out anything.

Do you mean the width for the font? The problem with that is that the boss likes narrow fonts (setting the width to 0.9 or 0.75) and also likes fancy fonts. Since you are the second person to mention fonts, I may play around with that as much as I can.

Good luck! Do you mean a 286 computer? I remember those days. I remember having to go immediately to my desk and launching Autocad and starting to pull up a drawing file.  After that I could go get a cup of coffee, do paperwork, exchange pleasantries, etc., waiting for the drawing to finally open up 30 minutes or more later.

@blitzkriegbob The Distance tab should govern all labels that report both linear and arc lengths. From your original screen capture, you would (or should) have labels that read:

R=410.00'  L=106.56'

But it obviously doesn't apply.  Adding the foot suffix in the Distance tab was probably the first thing I did.  You can look at my other screen captures and see that my bearing/distance boundary label in capture two has the foot tick.  In capture three my easement distance label has the foot tick mark.  When I label arcs, I don't get a foot tick mark. All the different settings that I have saved for boundary, lot, easement, centerline, etc. have the foot suffix, but I've yet to get that with an arc label.

@blitzkriegbob It's possible you might have the Apply Settings by Layer option enabled (found under Annotate -- Auto Annotate) which permits certain types of annotation styles to be placed based on the geometry of the layer found/used in CAD. In my system, specifying the foot suffix in the Distance tab does get applied to both the Radius and Arc Length annotation values. If you'd care to issue the Save option for both Annotate Defaults (which creates a *.ADF file) and Auto Annotate (which creates a *.AAN file) and send them to me along with the Version and Build number (found under Help -- About Carlson), I'll see what I can identify the problem.
