I have been a die hard IE user for my browser, but I keep getting more and more incompatibility issues with IE. And there are apparently no upgrades for IE in XP.
So yesterday I put CHROME on a couple of computers and so far am liking it.
But what is your opinion about what is the best browser? And why? And did you have any issues migrating from whatever you used to use?
Thanks for your thoughts.
I use Opera, it has a nice mail client, and you can create a link to you favorite websites right on an launch screen, so one does not have to dig through the menus to find bookmarks

I'm using Mozilla Firefox and Chrome,
recently Mozilla has problems with updating the latest flash plugin on my desktop ...

I like Chrome simply because it has tons of add-ons and for the way it handles resources. I used to use Firefox, however it kept taking more and more resources (memory mainly); as the process (firefox.exe) was left running and you did some browsing, going to and leaving pages, using various amounts of memory at various sites, well it wouldn't release the resources! Ultimately if you persisted it would get to be so large it would hog everything. Firefox was a great browser, however the developers ignored the glaring issue. Chrome handles it well by each tab being its own process (chrome.exe); when you close a tab, resources are released and bloat is kept down. So Chrome it is.
Been a chrome user since it first showed up and never had any major issues.
I switched to Chrome about a year ago and love it. It will sinc with phone and tablet. Have never had an issue with it (yet :)). The only problem I have is with the bookmarks on Chrome’s android version. BTW Chrome for android will only run on 4.x.
Have a great week!B-)
My Kids all say Chrome is the best, they would know. 😀 I switched and they were right.
Chrome is probably fine if you just want to browse, HOWEVER, many HTML files created by 3rd party software seem to be incompatible, not necessarily the fault of Chrome, more an artifact of only outputting HTML files from the 3rd party programs that are geared toward IE.
Other issues vs. IE, the print options and saving options are convoluted IMHO in Chrome.
I have both IE and Chrome installed, I browse with Chrome because it is a bit faster to load and easier to manage and see your history, BUT still find myself returning to IE for many tasks.

IE has never been any good, most people used it because it came with their computer. Went to Mozilla and it's getting vulnerable. Started using Chrome and it was good for a while until Google decided to link all accounts. Now I'm using Opera and liking it.

I recently switched to Chrome and really like it with one major exception. Some of my favorite websites which used to load no longer load and all i get is a blank white screeen. This is apparently fairly common. I find it very annoying.
I was having trouble with this desktop, so while out of town a couple weeks ago, our IT person re-formatted this machine, and it's set up to use Chrome. so far, no trouble, just a bit different to get used to. I'll admit it hasn't locked up one me yet....
(I may have just jinxed myself).
Chrome or Firefox. I use FireFox as some of the extensions I use have no equal in Chrome yet.
IE has fallen too far behind and is no longer the standard that people build websites to suit.
I always used IE, until I went to an OPUS Projects Class, and learned that OPUS Projects does not like IE. The developer recommended Google Chrome, but our IT department nixed that Idea. They would support Mozilla Firefox though, so that is becoming my browser of choice. The only problem is that U-SMART, our control database does not like Mozilla Firefox so I use both, sometimes at the same time.
Why didn't your IT guys like Chrome?
IE is dying in XP. Taking a long time to fire up.
Firefox is Ok.
Based on comments here I may switch to Chrome.
My expense claim site used to require IE but I noticed on-line Outlook now works fine in Firefox so IE may not be necessary anymore.
:good: I just recently added "Awesome New Tab Page" which is extremely customizable with all kinds of options for background pictures and a more user friendly way to set up buttons for your favorite websites.

This is what I have, use and love. I am a google geek and love chrome by the way.
I'm a huge fan of Chrome. I can login to Chrome with my Gmail account on my laptop, phone and tablet. I can be using any one of them and have access to my plethora of bookmarks. I can also access tabs that are open on other devices -- for instance, I was reading Google+ on my tablet but wanted to read it later, so I left that tab open. Later, when I was back at my laptop, I was able to open Chrome and select "Other Devices" at the bottom of the screen and open up that article.
Chrome is suh-weeeeeeeet!

Chrome is way better than anything I've seen and tried so far. Until recently there was a limitation related to the fact that some of municipal GISs were not functioning properly in Chrome. That's now resolved, they all work just fine.
The only thing I find kind of weird is that Chrome is very "RAM" hungry, but that might be all them anyway.
