Setup by setup, observation by observation, I'm troubleshooting a botched traverse I did months ago.
I've just discovered another blunder and need help correcting the .rw5.
I first occupy 310, shoot the foresight to 311. (I know, I know: "Set back sights to zero").
Then, I do a side shot to a point off to the right of the traverse (AR about 279), but for some inexplicable reason, either SurveCE calls that point 311 again, or I do something dumb in the DC, labeling it 311.
So now I have two points called 311...one an OP, the other a SS, 58' apart.
Immediately after taking this shot, I proceed to fore sight to 312 (from 311).
Do I:
A. Edit the side shot record to rename that point 311 to something else (311a or whatever)?
B. Delete the entire side shot record (I don't care about it at this point)?
C. Something else?
Here's the segment of the .rw5 in question:

I don't know why you wouldn't just edit the sideshot number to a different number. ? You took the measurement, might as well have it in your data. I would only suggest you make sure you software "knows" which 311 you moved to.
It appears to me that you overwrote your BS and FS with single observation side shots.

Vern:
I thought that too at one time. It was driving me crazy. But the manual says that's how SurveCE records sets (BD/FD FR/BR). If you look at the values, they are the mean of the set above. My desktop software (TPC) seems to read them as means, but it's looking at the raw data. Don't know why SurvCE reports the means as a comment, but it does. Go figure.
