I am sorry to hear that.

I liked Richard.

I learned a few things from him.

It appears that his tenure in life was not allodial. 76 is too young, in my opinion, to have to go.

I'm sorry to hear that. I enjoyed reading his posts.
Looks like he passed away March 4.

Wow.

I rarely agreed with him, but he stood his ground and defended his thought processes. I too learned a lot and if nothing else, he made me think.

Rest well, Richard.

Peace to you, sir.

Carl

Wrong again, Frame! If the record is faulty it must be corrected! Clearly the birth year of 1935 is a scrivener's error that any competent surveyor can correct by an affidavit filed in the Miscellaneous Records. Know your state laws!

Richard Schaut knew Justice Cooley of the Michigan bar personally. Cooley died in 1898, so that would make Richard considerably older than the faulty measurement recorded in his obit indicates. He had to have been over 100.

Very sad. I can recall many discussions, arguments, what-have-you since way back in rpls.com days. Indeed, he did stand his ground and never caved.

I learned from him also. His arguments for correcting the record were at times week, but in the later part of his posting years, he was more open to correcting the record via acceptable legal procedures.

I don't know for sure but there is a Richard L. Schaut listed with a Green Bay address on the license website. His license expired in 2010.

Yes, I believe it's a safe bet.

I recall his son worked in Redmond for Microsoft.

This is sad. Although Richard was not open minded enough to really argue with, and predictable, he was always amusing. And I'm glad to have learned of Justice Volley through him.
Sad indeed. I've been missing him.

Sounds crazy but I may miss being called a dippy idiot.

On the other hand, I am sure someone else will come along and pick up his slack in that area.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
RIP Richard.
I wonder if they have fences on The Other Side?
Sincerely, though, Rest in Peace, Richard. Thank you for your contributions that made us all think.
REST IN PEACE you cantankerous old bastard.
You were an amusing individual that really encouraged me to think. It was appreciated.
Have fun wherever you are!
Sincere condolences to the family.
He's probably quoting the ALTA standards and Wigmore's compendium to Saint Peter right now. Saint Peter will eventually let him through just to him out of his hair ;-).
