A sad day for Country Music. Fox News - George Jones
That's obviously terrible news, but with the way he lived, it's a wonder he lasted this long.
"He stopped loving her today, They placed a wreath upon his door..."
RIP No Show

I saw him just couple years ago in Panama City, FL.
Yes, he showed up! LOL He still did a great show.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you...
He would have been dead years ago if it had not been for his last wife Nancy. During the 80's they had a country music park in East Texas. A covered stage with lawn chair seating and picnic tables. They lived there at the park so Nancy made sure he showed up.
When it started to rain, his wife would pass out garbage bags to the fans. They would tear two holes for the arms and one for the head and use it as a poncho.
We saw a lot of top performers and great shows there.

I'm sorry to hear that but I've expected it. He had alzheimer's so it was just a matter of time. I hear that at the end he was having trouble singing because he couldn't remember his lyrics.

I remember my Mother giving my Father a George Jones LP for Christmas in 1963. I think the title cut was "The Race Is On".
Pops ran a needle through that thing. I can still remember all the words.

SEVERAL years ago I saw old possum at a place between Cordele and Leslie. It was an old tobacco barn that was redone into a "nightclub". Before it burned down they used to have some good Nashville talent there.
