Not a bad idea. CSI would have to sift through the pig crap spread out all over half a township for clues.
Well,, my wife rolled up to Best Buy at the curb next to the front doors, turned on her blinkers, went inside told the security man that she had two TVs to drop off but they were too heavy for her to carry. He grabbed a cart, helped her unload them, wheeled them over to customer service.
$50.
Done

Around here some firm from the big city comes on a Saturday once year and parks a couple of large trucks in the City Hall parking lot. They collect any kind of electronic device imaginable at no cost. I've seen everything from cell phones to 65" LCD televisions.
I put one in a yard sale last month for $5 and gave it to a guy that said he restores old game systems. He would have paid the $5 but his bride spent all his pocket money on other useless stuff.
I gave all my old tv's to family but that was years ago. I don't know what they ended up doing with them.
If working, there is a kid somewhere that would enjoy having something to hook game player to.
I had a 32in that took up the footprint of a swivel rocker and passed on to my grandsons 4 & 8.
The disposal fee for tires, batteries and electronics has kept a stockpile of crap in my boat shed.
Same can be said for all the assorted cables from the past that I've kept for that emergency adapt a connection.
Every so often it pays off to have something to turn in for a core charge when you know you are not going back that way for a while and somebody needs a spare or a crowd wants to watch the game out by the grill.
Have a friend that rolls an old rear projection big screen out into the garage come game day. That thing is like the size of kitchen cabinets.
good luck
I'm starting to feel out of touch, I just retired my rear projection big screen tv about 3 months ago...
Haven't seen one of those since about 1987. Thought they disappeared when disco died.

Sacramento County...no charge. They have an e-waste drop off.
Household haz waste is also free to drop off.

They accept Laptops, Tablets, SmartPhones, Cell Phones, Ink Cartridges and Ink Toner cartridges AT NO CHARGE so I'm thinking you could ship any of these smaller items to them and your cost of disposal would only be the shipping charge. Recycling is good.
I have learned something. I dunno just what yet, whether I have learned that some things don't go in the trash, or that I need to pay more attention, but it has never been told to me I couldn't throw the above mentioned items in the dumpster at the office when I needed to be rid of them. Bet they don't burn real well in the burn pit either.
