Just thought I'd put it out there that my Mom, the best Mom on the planet, is having breast cancer removal surgery tomorrow. They caught it early but did also determine that it was starting to spread. The hope is that it hasn't had enough time to get far and that they will successfully remove it all. The doctors seem fairly confident.
I will be staying with her for at least a few days after surgery to help her out. My Dad has Multiple Myeloma, so he has troubles of his own. My Mom normally cares for him but obviously she won't be in any condition to be doing that right now. With any luck, he will have a good streak for awhile, as he tends to have on occasion. He hasn't been at the top of his game the last couple of days, but better than usual.
With that, I know you guys care and I consider many of you really good friends. I feel like we are a little family here, despite drama from time to time (what family doesn't have that?). Your positive thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated. It's sometimes difficult to be positive with everything they are going through lately, but we're trying to keep our heads high and hope for the best.
Thanks for keeping us in your thoughts. I really appreciate it.
Wendell,
You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

My mom had similar surgery quite a few years ago. She is thriving at 97. I show up for a visit and she still has a list of things for me to do. I would not trade her for any other.
BTW, the list thing drives my wife nuts, since I don't respond as well to her lists. She does not buy the fact that my mom had a head start. Reminds me of my 16th birthday. Mom picked me up after school and we went to the State Police barracks for my driver's test. The tester failed me for driving too fast. So Saturday morning early we repeat the trip, and I do not exceed 15mph and pass. They stamp my learner's permit and we go home. When we get there my mom hands me the keys to the car, cash and a list. Did not get done till after lunch.

Ugh...
I just went through something similar with my dear wife. Hang in there buddy and be strong around her. Your mother will need all the moral support she can get from you.
Thoughts and prayers are with you Wendell.
Cancer treatments have improved radically in the last few years, and with the early detection, I am sure your Mom will do just fine.
Keep one thing in mind though. While Cancer is traumatic enough, women have a thing about their tata's, so the emotional path is a little steeper. Be patient with her. She's going through more than she will ever admit, especially to her children.
You and Angel are in my prayers too, along with Mom and Dad.
Wendell, you and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. Liz
