Goof Off does a good job on permanent marker but I have no idea how it affects that particular vinyl drafting surface....
Gas doesn't work had to evacuate the office
I have used a dry erase marker to write over permanent marker done on a white board and it removes the sharpie
In the past when I would get printer ink on my hands no amount of conventional hand cleaning methods would remove it, until the next morning when shaving I noticed the shaving cream would get discolored and the ink was gone from my hands... so perhaps? I use edge, so I don't know if the gel type vs. standard cream type makes a difference.
tried all of the above except the goof-off , no luck so far, Florida/Georgia limes answer is looking like the best bet
I've been using Castrol Super Clean for a while to remove ink and paint from plastic and it works fine. Your milage may vary but it is not expensive, have many applications around the ranch. I haven't tried it on the drafting table, but it could use a cleaning.?ÿ?ÿ
Brake Clean. Not sure what it would do to vinyl, it works on nearly everything I need it to. It has the Trichlorethane .. ethene .. ethylene.. whatever variation they have. The stuff they're using on your dry cleaning .. just another variation.
An oil based cleaner will break down the permanent mark.
I use hand cream to get it off my skin.
I used hand sanitizer to get permanent marks off of school desks. Apparently, alcohol is a marker solvent.
Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. It works on most things. Have not tried on Vinyl.
I didn't think drafting tables still exist
This is going to sound strange but try some "deep woods off" bug repellant...I mean it does take permanent marker off just about anything. Including your name when on your hardhat.

no luck so far, still have to try the magic erasure and to the smart -a@@ who made the comment about drafting tables, just because I have one and use it for my work desk doesn't mean I still hand draft?ÿ
Ok, this video is not me, but it does duplicate my experience.
If your marker is not alcohol based, then maybe something in one of these tips will work:

Most cleansers, e.g. Comet, have calcium hypochlorite bleach as one of the ingredients.?ÿ It needs water to activate it.?ÿ Scrubbing doesn't do much to get rid of stains.?ÿ Sprinkle on a generous amount of cleanser, wet it down, and let it sit for half an hour.?ÿ Wipe it off and repeat as necessary.?ÿ It won't necessarily remove the marks completely, but should make them less conspicuous.
