Just got back home from a camping road-trip in Southern Africa. Good to get my head out of the surveying for a little while this winter but soon back at it I suppose...here's a snapshot of the drive.

Daryl and Mary
Thanks for sharing. How did you know which roads to take? Did you have any close calls with the wildlife or political strife?
Were there any surveyors standing beside the road taking pictures with their camera thingy?

i had downloaded Southern Africa maps from Garmin. ( the Canadian site because the American site hot linked the Ireland site) then we had pseudo local maps as well. border crossings were for the most part easy except going into Zimbabwe...corruption and chaos from the get go...cost $212 to get in when said and done. no narly wildlife encounters...a few Elephants in musth that we avoided best we could. no other surveyors ...

There is actor who grew up and went to high school here who is active with the Year of the Elephant group that is trying to halt the ivory trade.
Ian Somerhalder. He was on CNN today.

Great way of sharing your experience.

For some reason while I was watching your video, I was wondering what the temperature was. Not sure why.

Some of those places looked dusty dry and hot. Even when it was raining, people were wearing short sleeves.
