We're beta testing a new program called SurveyorConnect Deals. Please feel free to check it out at: https://surveyorconnect.com/portal/deals/ and let us know what you think. We are highlighting specific deals with ad vendors starting with GeoShack and we will expand it after the Beta period.

This looks promising to us. We skipped the e-mail subscription, because we log on here a little more often than once a day.
Cheers,
Henry
I like it!
I like it, except that I wish the link would open a new window, in fact I wish all links would open a new window and not 'take me away' from this page.

Use "right click" and open in a new tab. That will do what you want.
You can click the center mouse wheel and get it to open in a new tab.
Cool, now where is that logo thing ...
Aloha, Wendell:
I just wished the Geoshack provides another shipping method to Hawaii beside UPS. USPS would be nice! Look forward to more options once you add more vendors...
Great innovation!
I am very familiar with the right click... etc, It just that I was taught that good web design NEVER took you away from the primary website, even user supplied links take you away here. It is just my preference, I'm not saying it's right or wrong, just very annoying (to me).
Wendell did 'ASK' what we (I) thought, did as I was asked.
Thank you for your response.
Jeff
Yes, yswami, we have the same or worse problem here.
I think on line retailers must have exclusive contracts with UPS or FedEx that they will never use USPS.
I have things sent to a re-shipper in Atlanta who then sends it to me by USPS. Shipping is 3X the price and 3X the time.

I agree (although I would say "usually" instead of "never"), but that functionality from a forum post is not possible at this time. Otherwise, I definitely would have made it open in a new tab automatically.
Thank you for the feedback! 🙂

Well, you were taught wrong. From Jacob Nielsen's website:
"Designers open new browser windows on the theory that it keeps users on their site. But even disregarding the user-hostile message implied in taking over the user's machine, the strategy is self-defeating since it disables the Back button which is the normal way users return to previous sites. Users often don't notice that a new window has opened, especially if they are using a small monitor where the windows are maximized to fill up the screen. So a user who tries to return to the origin will be confused by a grayed out Back button."
If you don't know who Jacob is, you were not "taught" at all.
While we could argue windows versus tabs, I totally see what you are saying. I still think it depends on how it is used.

I have to chuckle at the extent of discussion about right clicking...new tab etc. we surveyors, and I include myself, are an anal group. Aren't we?

Obviously I forgot to get on my knees, face the center of the Earth and bow to Mr Nielsen.
I learned correctly.
Yes Hack, quite anal. The man asked for MY opinion, not somebody else's opinion of my opinion.
Click here if you already know everything PLEASE DON'T RIGHT CLICK, THAT WOULD BE NO FUN!
Just kidding Jeff all good surveyors are a little OCD. It's good to be able to laugh at oneself.

As a Boston Bruins fan myself, I couldn't agree more! 😉
Hold the "ctrl" or "shift" key while you click and it will open in a new tab or new window respectively, while using windows explorer.

Speak for yourself, that's just gross...
