We've been building something new on RPLS.com, and it's far enough along that I want to open the doors early. It's called Surveying Resources — a directory of the organizations that matter to our profession: state and national associations, licensing boards, and standards and credentialing bodies, gathered in one place and organized by state and by type.

Fair warning, it's a work in progress. Think beta. There are about 121 records in there now, and I'm still going through them one by one, verifying links, adding logos, and filling in the details. So you'll hit some gaps, a few rough edges, and probably a bad link or two. That's expected at this stage.

Here's where you come in. If you spot a broken link, an organization that's missing, or something that's just plain wrong, I'd like to hear about it. This is a community resource, and it'll be better for having the community's eyes on it. Reply here or send me a note.

And there's more coming. Phase 2 will add educational links — colleges and universities with surveying programs and degrees — so students and folks looking to get into the profession have a place to start too.

More to come as it fills out. For now, kick the tires and tell me what you think.

Is the thought for this to be static? Or, AI scrape the association sites and links for news, or maybe they have some ability to "push" data to the page?

My first suggestion is to alphabetize the page links, rather than numbering them. It will make it a lot easier to find a specific resource that one is looking for.

Edit: and if I had only looked to the right side of the page, I would have seen the state listing. Derp-derp-derp...

Also, for Massachusetts, you might want to add The Engineering Center Education Trust - https://www.engineers.org/ Massachusetts Association of Land Surveyors and Civil Engineers (MALSCE) is a governing member of the trust.

Mostly static, but I will be running annual audits or accepting reports from folks that discover discrepancies, new information, dead links, etc. between audits. In the future, I may add more features, but I'm starting with a strong base of useful stuff.

I've just imported 90 educational resources and they are still a bit rough around the edges. So I'll be working on cleaning those up a bit. But feel free to take a look.

I also have a shortlist that I need to manually verify before adding them, so there will be more added soon. But if you know of any other educational resources not shown in the current list, or if you have information that would improve any of the resources, I'd love to hear about them!

I've also just added a button at the bottom to report an issue on each resource's listing page. So if you see a broken link, missing or incorrect information, etc., please feel free to report it and I'll get it fixed as soon as possible.

And the last update for today: I've now added a "Suggest a Resource" button to the main listing (next to the search bar). You can use that to suggest new resource listings.

To get credit for your suggestion, make sure you are logged in to your RPLS.com account before you submit the suggestion. We'll show your name and a link to your forum profile in your approved resource listings. Additionally, you'll be able to manage them in My Account.
