Traffic & Other General Discussion

I was wondering if traffic would increase is Other General Discussion was made public. If people stumble upon this site, it looks pretty "dry", with only survey issues discusses. Turning Other General Discussion on to non-registered lurkers might make us look more multi-dimensional.

I agree, other sites with political venting, do not need it here.

Funny you say that.

> LOL I don't miss it at all. But I do see your point. I kept it for so long because I wanted desperately for it to work out. But I just don't have the time or patience to put up with the nonsense that comes along with it.

> I hope that this makes the site stronger, even if traffic were to dip a little bit. I'm thinking quality over quantity at this point.

I agree, but if you want it, it needs to be a volunteer moderated forum. I wish the whole site was, actually.

If it weren't for the fact that someone occasionally mentions it, I wouldn't have noticed that P&R was gone. I never read it anyway.

Yeah, I'm glad it's gone. Just a few people baiting the others with irrational unreasonable posts. kinda like arguing the time of day.

Your house car, your rules.

Thanks for the site, Wendell (and Angel)!

Well, that's two down.

One posted a request for a new category, then went on a long, political tirade. Post removed, user locked out.

One posted a question about whether or not he could post about one of the ballot measures, then also went on a long tirade about it. Post removed, user locked out.

Despite all of the turmoil during the P&R years, I'm still amazed at some of the things that happen here.

Dean Wormer: I didn't get that, son, what was that?

Otter: Uh, I said, "What a shame that a few bad apples have to spoil a good time for everyone by breaking the rules."

For the most part. I always read the P&R posts. I may be being a little too nice, but then again, I always miss the posts that get people banned or just don't see the trouble in some of them. But as Wendell says - he is the one who gets the crap. As many others have said "His house, his rules" I was just simply stating my opinion. We as surveyors, all have one and are always right. 🙂

Wow..It's Amazing that a common ground

has been found in this thread to drop PnR.

I would miss some but not miss many of the PnR threads.
I would miss Fleming's posts on politics and culture but I now read the America Conservative and have it bookmarked because of him and I have not broken out in any strange skin rashes or developed any signficant memory loss. 😉
There are some posters that have expressed clear concise POVs and then others that proffered very dark sides of opinions that I wish that I never had to see being posted here.
Then there are just too many clashes of personality and other regional bias that just a forever drone here. Meaningless and no points at all. If you read one post by some of the frequent PnR posters here than you have read them all.

That is just plain crazy!! Over a message board? It sounds like the gene pool in some areas could use a little chlorine, but then I guess we all knew that.

I'll be honest, I kinda miss it. BUT, I don't think the board is anything less without it either. I do wish we could still search the old comments, since there were some whoppers of funny predictions that I was tagging as "prediction" to search for later.. But that's okay, I know who was off base!

So if it means anything, I say leave it off. I'm happy that you and Angel are still putting up with us at all!

Andy

Saw this quote on Facebook.

"I met those of our society who had votes in the ensuing election, and advised them, 1. To vote, without fee or reward, for the person they judged most worthy: 2. To speak no evil of the person they voted against: And, 3. To take care their spirits were not sharpened against those that voted on the other side. "
