For those of you with a GS14 on a network, how did you get your data connection going? My CS15 does not have wifi or modem, so I have to use a SIM card in the GS14 (bluetooth data connection from my phone to CS15 was too finicky). I worked with AT&T for well over an hour and came up empty. There is no IMEI listed on the unit, and under the GS sensor settings panel on the CS15, it shows that there is a GS modem, but the IMEI number is blank. Leica support is taking their time getting back to me...
Thanks,
Ed

I haven't needed the IMEI. It must be an AT&T thing. Maybe this thread may help

I think they want the IMEI number to set up the account, once they have that then you can change devices at will. I think my account says that our units are wifi hot spots. For the most part GSM is supposed to be hardware independent.

My recommendation would be to call your Leica dealer and ask for their SmartConnect service. That will provide the SIM card and data plan for one, two or three years. This will allow you to work with one source for support.

You should not need any number at all. Just go into the local AT&T store, tell them you need a SIM card activated with a data plan (this is the standard/large size SIM). You will then put the SIM in the unit and configure it in Viva. If you need help after getting the SIM I would be happy to send you the connection instructions...or I'm sure Leica support would be happy to walk you through it.

With AT&T you don't need anything special. Just a data plan and a 3g Sim card.

Make sure your APN is set to: BROADBAND

Shoot me a PM or give our office a call and ask for me, I can get you up and running in no time.

I walked into an AT&T store on Friday, with my old 2G card and my new GS12 viva controller in hand. They gave me a new 3G sim card and within 5 minutes I was up and running, no charge...

Easy Peasy; wish everything was going that smooth...

I have a business account executive assigned to my account at T-Mobile (since 2015), I would highly recommend the equivalent at whatever carrier you sign on with. Just got a new static IP and was having some issues, turns out it was configured wrong on the carrier end, I was in direct contact with an engineer today and problem fixed shortly.

Before I got an assigned business executive I was going round and round every time something didn't work with regular customer support, hours wasted figuring out I knew more than them.

PS, engineer told me today that T-Mobile will NOT shut off 2g until 2022 in case you want to keep older gear going and AT&T shut you out.

I got tired of messing with those dang SIM cards and crappy cell modems crammed into GNSS units. I bought a couple of mifis. Yeah its something else to keep up with and another device to charge. But if I ever have trouble with one the whole unit is not down. I just connect the unit to another mifi or my phone until I can get the bad mifi fixed or replaced. Plus I can run my laptop in the field with the mifi and keep working while collecting OPUS data.
