I was bitten by this fowl evil pest and recent lab tests confirmed I was a victim of RMSF (Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever).?ÿ A vigorous 2 weeks of (yuck..) Doxycycline has probably insured my survival.?ÿ

I have been crawling through the woods and surveying for?ÿabout 50 years and?ÿhave been bitten by just about everything that has teeth, stingers or pinchers.?ÿ I guess I thought I was bullet proof but a bite from the common American dog tick just about did me in.?ÿ It's a little unnerving considering the precautions I take to keep "hitchhikers" from jumping on and taking a ride.?ÿ I once took a full round house swing with a machete into a wasp laden elm tree.?ÿ I would have rather endured that again than RMSF.

Just be careful, pay attention and keep around bucket loads of DEET or a repellant of your choice.?ÿ Us it frequently and often.?ÿ Sadly there isn't a repellant for bad dogs, snakes, wasps or mad neighbors.?ÿ?ÿJust a?ÿword of caution to any of you folks that plan on following your career in land surveying:?ÿ it is not without a cost.?ÿ

Would I do it all?ÿagain if given the chance?

You bet!?ÿ ??ÿ

?ÿ

Lovely. Just lovely.

RMSTF

Himalayan salt, about 1/2 to 1 tsp a day.

Whole limes, skin and all. 3 per week.

Colloidal silver. 1 qt a month. With a month or 2 off, sometimes.

Has helped me.

Mr. Cash,

You sir have endured a tremendous amount pain and I know what it is like.?ÿ I contracted RMSF about 5 years ago that kept me off my feet for 7 days and I would not wish that feeling on my worst of enemies. It is a crippling disease that not only makes you feel bad with a very high temperature but the pain it inflicts on your muscles, to the point you cannot move, is enough to really make you think you are going to die.?ÿ The only good news from contracting this disease is that "supposedly" you are immune from getting it again. I haven't seen any lingering affects since, so best of luck on your recovery.?ÿ

Chris

Is this a recipe for tick repellent, RMSF treatment, or Love Potion No. 9?

It's for survival, when you cannot take more antibiotics.

About an ounce per day. My neighbor makes it. I'm using about 3x a wk now, an ounce at a time.

My docs. said that good solutions for tick illnesses were not known. (Besides doxycycline). So, I went expiramenting, and googling a lot. The whole limes, with the lime oil, from the skin helped a lot.

Willy Burgdorfer was a research scientist on it.

I feel your pain!! I contracted RMSF and Lyme's Disease?ÿin 1999 in my own business in north central Arkansas. The Drs. said if my wife hadn't brought me in I probably would have died. Went thru all kinds of antibiotics, both pills and daily injections. Went thru physical therapy for 9 months. One of the other local surveyors also got RSMF and last time I talked to him it was still an issue

It affected all of my major joints with fibromyalgia which is still an issue. I have taken all kinds of herbal and home remedies and am now taking 750mg of Turmeric daily. Still looking for something to make it all go away

I have been telling my crews for years to be sure and spray down. It only takes one tick

I have been telling my crews for years to spray down no matter what, all it takes is one tick is all it takes

Dude you need to visit the Nun.?ÿ ??ÿ

Seriously though,

ƒ??Sadly there isn't a repellant for bad dogs, snakes, wasps or mad neighbors.ƒ?

Sure there is except for the wasps unless yer ƒ??dead eye dickƒ?, ie:

I got bit by a brown recluse spider right above my nose on the lower forehead. Just itched for a while like a mosquito bite so I thought nothing of it. Next morning it went from a bite to red circle about the size of a dime. I just figured my dirty digging fingernails infected it and went to work. That evening I had chills then fever then chills and fever etc. Next morning the red circle had turned to black, I looked like an anomaly of Nature with 3 eyes. Went to Doc, he looked at it and said I should have consulted him when the thing turned red then he would have prescribed steroids to clear it up before it turned black. Anyway after the ƒ??thirdƒ? eye healed it left a ƒ??craterƒ? where it was. So if you see some old man wandering around who looks like he was shot in the head itƒ??s me. However, SWMBO made me get Botox shots and that filled up the crater.

Take care man, you've been through enough.?ÿ ??ÿ

I came home with 100-150 yesterday. Lots of deer were in the area. I'm itching like a 4 legged hound, by a soda machine, down at the old country store. Took colloidal silver this afternoon. Started feeling better. So, I started drawing a plat.

About 45 min later, lightning struck a tree, and it fell across the power line. So power is off. And, I itch. Did I already mention that?

Think I might have had that. Got bit by something while chopping line for cross sections. Had the same black puncture marks on my temple, red rash, and a gland or node on the side of my neck swollen. Couldn't figure out what it was. Went to the doc and got the same antibiotics and steroid treatment. Cleared up after that. ?ÿThanks, think I know what that bite might have been now.

Sympathies, Paden. It used to be I couldn't tell the difference between a cold, or the flu. I would get sneezing and a sore throat and wonder, is this a cold or the flu ?

Some months back I finally caught a flu and can say I definitely know the difference now. Kicked the snot out of me. I can't even picture RMSF.?ÿ

Reading the topic, at first glance, thought it was about a recent story about dog germs.?ÿ

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/ct-dog-lick-blood-infection-20180802-story.html

?ÿ

The article states that almost 3/4 of all the dogs in the US carry the bacteria capnocytophaga.?ÿ If that's the case?ÿI could be a goner any day now.?ÿ I?ÿam alpha human of a pack?ÿof?ÿ4 Australian Shepherds...and they "love" me incessantly every day when I walk in the door.

I'm almost an expert on food-borne illnesses due to my life long addiction to "truck-stop" fried chicken.?ÿ I can tell the difference between ptomaine and salmonella within an hour or two of ingestion. But?ÿI'm sorry that I got to add RMSF to my repertoire, I could have done without it.?ÿ

While the symptoms were somewhat flu-like, I could definitely tell there was a difference...other than the splotchy rash.?ÿ The symptoms came on quick like influenza, but the fever was different.?ÿ I was freezing (and chattering) and felt like my skin was on fire at the same time.?ÿ I felt delirious like one might with a fever over 104, but my temp hardly hit 101.?ÿ Several times in?ÿ72 hour period my shivers would cease and I would sweat profusely for an hour or so with no break in the fever.?ÿ My wife realized how serious it might be when I called the doctor myself...without her persistent urging which is usually the case.?ÿ

I normally don't seek medical attention unless there is a great loss of blood or a visible compound fracture.?ÿ This time was definitely different.

You guys make a rather compelling argument for me to never consider working in the lower 48. My dogs don't even know what a tick is.

Just because I'm paranoid, doesn't mean they aren't out to get me.
