What ever happened to Wilson? I know there was a second soccer ball also going around, but can't remember the name.

Now that I think about it, it was for the co worker of Daryl Paulk. I believe it was delivered with a box of trinkets from surveyors all over the US. It might have even made it to Australia.

I was just going through some old photo's and found this.

Joe,

I remember Deral's Lawton Blog very well, he often wrote about his co-worker Michael Porter. Don't know when this was exactly, I arrived at rpls.com later but the mr. Wilson story popped up from time to time. He must indeed have travelled to our Australian friend Richard.
Did some googling and Michael needed a liver transplant, mr. Wilson was a travelling fund raiser.
Could it be possible that Michael now is the Oklahoma city surveyor since Deral left Oklahoma?
Feels as a long time ago, make's me wonder how long I'm allready here with you guys?

Mr. Wilson was a good guy!

Christof.

Ditto.B-) Sort of one of those images that just gets burned into your mind.;-)

Jim Schwing created the Wilson Spirit ball.
I believe they eventually made their way to Deral and on to Michael.

Wilson Stopped by my old office once upon a time.

Michael Porter is the Surveyor for the City of Lawton, OK. He is active in Oklahoma Society of Land Surveyors affairs.

Christof,

Your post is pretty close, except Wilson was a girl....B-)

The videos say I posted them 5 and 6 years ago. The party at JB's was during the 2009 ACSM conference in Salt Lake City. What a great thing he did for our little group. It sure was a lot of fun! Thank you John Stahl!

I started reading the old RPLS.com board, in 2001; sure doesn't seem that long ago.....

Bubba was the 2nd ball

I had Bubba for a couple of weeks in January 2009. Before me, he was visiting Andy Johnson in Florida. I might have some pictures at home.

Radar

That was a GOOD party for sure!

The above video brings back some good memories.

Chris Fox PLS went with me to meet "the gang." He passed away nearly a year ago now.

Too many of the OLD RPLS gang are no longer with us...

🙁

What about Heidi

I had a visit from one of the two or three traveling balls. I thought the one that visited me was named Heidi.

Seems like this was in support of the massive fund raising we did to ensure Michael Porter's placement on the transplant list. Might have been $40,000 raised. Might have been less, but it was a lot of money.

Heidi, Wilson & Bubba

Here's a photo of all three of the world travelers together for the first time at the 2009 party.

I think this is likely why Radar remembers the party so fondly...

😉 😉

Heidi, Wilson & Bubba

And just like his namesake on MASH you can't see where his left hand is and what it is doing.

Many TV viewers did not realize that Radar O'Reilly's left hand was not a complete, normal hand. It was almost always obscured by any one of a thousand means throughout the run of the series. Occasionally it would appear very briefly.
