It's not warm there - it's HOT!
So where will the water this city needs come from?
I could see moving someplace warm.... but not an oven like Arizona 😀
My ideal would be a place where the temperature range is about 40-80 with "less" humidity.
As for tech, well all too much of it is implemented well before it's ready for prime time. These days, that is how many companies essentially beta test to find the bugs.
The thought of self driving cars kinda terrifies me. When was the last time any of us used a program that worked well the first time and for years? Not long ago (within the past few months), I saw a writeup of how self driving cars are unable to function properly in some areas due to various signs being obstructed by trees and bushes. With snow fall, when the lines on the road become hidden, well, there's another obstical.
I'm just not ready to turn my life over to tech, I don't expect to ever be ready.

They're 'smart ', they'll probably figure that out.

What's another interstate pipeline among friends?
Did he really buy $80 M worth of land west of Phoenix or did he buy $10 M worth of land for $80 M?

I tend toward the skeptical about self-driving cars, but I think they're coming anyway. It's not just a matter of technical ability (what happens when the operating system crashes?), there are also social and moral concerns. One basic conundrum is found in the "Who dies?" question: the car finds itself in a situation in which it has to choose between hitting a child who darted out into the street or an oncoming car. On what basis does this question get answered?
A friend is the CEO of a tech company and regularly travels to China for business meetings. He told me recently that the Chinese are developing a "social score" system that assigns points for various characteristics (e.g., education, profession, political affiliation, etc.). Right now it's voluntary, but the intent is eventually to apply it to every Chinese citizen. Their self-driving cars will use the social score in answering the "Who dies?" question.

They do not drive 75mph in China or the other countries in Asia.
It is more like 15 to 40kph and the highways are highly congested at that speed.
Every self driving car I've heard of has to follow something embedded in the pavement, that is gonna take some real funding that the transportation department does not have.
Not a fan of self driving cars.
We had a multiple fatality accident a couple of days ago involving one deer and two cars. I can picture a self-drving vehicle continuing on down the road with three dead women and a dead deer inside. The first vehicle hit the deer such that it flew up onto the hood of the second vehicle and tore through the windshield, then slammed into the three occupants.
$80M ???
That's pocket change to Gates. 😎
I drive 11 miles to work everyday in the dark (4:00 am.) along Markham Woods Road in Seminole county.
I have to stop at least once a day for deer with yearlings, bears with cubs, and those damned dumb Armadillos.
Also to relocate any turtle and/or tortoise which seems to be fascinated with asphalt 😎

And this time of year snakes that love the warmth of the asphalt.
