@dougie?ÿ
Nice, wow was it strictly a fly fishing trip? I??ve never fished a running fresh water river/stream before, (too busy looking for high water mark). I feel relaxed just lookin?? at the pictures. ?????ÿ

SWMBO drug me out to the links. Haven't played much this summer, but it was a good day yesterday.
I have a seven and a four year old girl to keep me occupied when not at work.?ÿ I had taken a nearly twenty year hiatus from hunting and fishing but now I have the pleasure of teaching my kids everything that was taught to me and the few things I've learned myself.?ÿ I've had too many people I trust tell me not to squander this brief moment in my life, so I don't work weekends, I cut myself off at ten hours a day, and recently took a new job that doesn't require me to travel.?ÿ Covid convinced my wife and I to homeschool and it had been amazing to get to teach my children the way I always wanted to learn, through experience.?ÿ?ÿ
As a child, I watched my uncle put in the effort required to make millions, while at the same time observing my cousins suffer and turn into the types of people I try to avoid, those with a victim mindset.?ÿ I may never become a millionaire, but my children will know their father and hopefully learn some measure if gratitude.
@holy-cow Well, Reckon I??ll roll the dice. Have an aunt and uncle well into their 80s who??ve been daily runners since the late 60s, and they??re still at it.
?ÿ
if it does go south somehow, maybe I??ll just become an ascetic??
@Chris Boufard
I read what you said. Lost your wife. At 39. My wife is 43.
One of my favorite things is time with her. It would be hard for me to be without her.?ÿ
I cannot say the right words. But, you might find some of it between these lines.
Praying for you, and your whole world. God is still God, and we still need him.
Nate
Now that I'm retired, I do this as a hobby...... ????

(say 7:00 AM - 9:00 AM)?ÿ
With work hours like that, burn out would not be an issue.
This is my brain shut down. Going to be doing a lot more of it when my boat is finally built.
@dougie?ÿ
Mike is probably one of the best tour guides out there
A bad day fishing is better than a good day at work...
Not for the fish.
@dmyhill actually I saved it from being firewood.?ÿ Stripped and sanded it all down, layer of fiberglass cloth, 3 layers of resin, 8 coats of marine varnish.
@hollandbriscoe You just inspired me to break my fly rod out and spend some time on the salt with it.?ÿ Haven't used it in probably close to a decade.
Nice red, where are you? Looks like FL. ?????ÿ
Whats the red fish? Looks kinda like red snapper but it??s too cold for them where you are. Whatever it is it was caught in deep water! ?????ÿ
What do you do to get your mind off of work?
Get on the tractor and start pushing out pine saplings, yaupon, cherry laurels, or anything else that starts creeping into the pasture/ yard/ road.
@flga-2-2 its a yellow eye rockfish.?ÿ Actually a pretty nice size one that @dougie caught there.?ÿ ?ÿWe were fishing in 450' of water.?ÿ ?ÿI caught a BIG halibut, 150# plus, maybe 180# at same spot.?ÿ ?ÿIt returned to the bottom 3 times!?ÿ ?ÿWe lost it at the boat rail.?ÿ ?ÿGetting a big halibut in is never easy, people have gotten killed doing it.?ÿ The harpoon failed and bent, halibut flopped and he was gone.?ÿ Guide was really pissed, it was the biggest halibut in northern Prince William Sound on his boat this season.?ÿ Fishing is Fishing, not the first big fish I have lost at the boat.
That's why they call it fishing and not catching...
We had a good crew and an epic day, I was just happy to be there!
