Not a bad view for a Monday morning.
?ÿ
Stunning. I hope there was a road up there. BTW, the photo file name is "Curry", is that significant?
Lake Curry in the background.
Burn scar makes the GPS easier to collect, and less bugs, but that is only benefit i suppose.?ÿ Reminds me of my wilder field days, thats a hell of a view for sure.
Did I tell you how much I love working on the water?
I hope everyone has a great Labor Day!?ÿ
I know I will?ÿ
Saturday's office on the Lower Klamath River hydro system.?ÿ This is the Fall Creek Pelton wheel which became operational in 1901.
Sunday's office, about a five hundred mile drive away, on Blue Mountain at about 2270 meters.?ÿ Should have been a great view of the Steen's mountains and Alvord desert.?ÿ But the wildfire smoke is makes that damn near impossible to breath and blocks any vistas.?ÿ Tomorrow its pack to the Klamath at J C Boyle.
Happy Labor day
P.s.?ÿ The peak of Blue Mountain is at least 750 meters above the adjacent basins.?ÿ The road up was one of the roughest I've been on.
Drafting today, all day long.?ÿ Had a computer problem that put it in the shop for about two weeks.?ÿ Only nine more jobs to finish drafting before moving onto the preliminary drafting for three others.?ÿ Won't be back in the field for at least a week.
The added fun is from having installed AutoCAD 2022 and teaching myself where everything is located.?ÿ Why, oh why, do they feel compelled to fix things that don't need fixed???????
@dougie?ÿ
I did some work there a couple of years ago for the power co-op.?ÿ As a side note, I graduated from high school across the sound from there.
@dougie?ÿ
Beautiful picture, are there any eatin' fish there? (besides those salmon things) ?????ÿ
@flga-2-2?ÿ
I grew up fishing in Nebraska and Manitoba. You didn't need much; an can of corn; a dough ball; and a Zebco 202 and you were good. In Washington, at a minimum, you need a boat; a down-rigger; a deep sea rod and reel and the bait/lures vary from day to day...
Some folks will fish the banks of a river, but it's combat fishing. You're not really fishing from the bank; you put on your waders and stand, up to your waist in glacier fed water; elbow to elbow with 100's of other people doing the same thing.
?ÿ
Yes, you can fish for other species; but will get strange looks from the locals if it's not sturgeon, ling cod, halibut or some other strange looking bottom feeder.
It's always fun hooking into a mud shark...
The Fair's in town, so they run a herd of cows down the main drag...
?ÿ
Cattle, certainly, but I couldn't pick out any cows in the crowd.
@bill93?ÿ
Quite possibly young Longhorns.?ÿ They can be of any color and pattern.?ÿ Their horns grow out and forward.?ÿ Corrientes grow more upward.?ÿ Both are rather lean-looking cattle.?ÿ As they breed with other breeds of cattle they develop an exotic look.
As they breed with other breeds of cattle they develop an exotic look?ÿ
Is that where you get YOUR ???? exotic look
@bill93?ÿ
Right...Definitely Bovine
But I wasn't trying to catch the attention of Holy Cattle ;~)
