So I set up my Zeiss and have my geo-radio on hooked up to my hp48 running smi. The geo radio has a red light that shows the power is on. It has separate lights on the side and only green power light is on. I turn on the instrument and it tries to connect to the radio but nothing.

Any suggestions?

Thank you in advance!

Matt

Matt,
Does the instrument have SMI installed on it? It should be one of the options to select during the boot process. Most of these did come with SMI as they were sold as part of an SMI package but you may have one of the ones that came from a different supplier. There is not a lot of help available out there regarding this instrument,
if you send me your email I will send along some operating instructions. The email link in my profile should work.

As I recall, you need an SMI card on the Zeiss. I only use my S10 now as a servo instrument, as no one except SMI (that I can find) support it robotically.

Yes it does have SMI installed. It goes through the boot process and when it finishes booting it goes to a screen that says ready to use SMI data collector and reads the HA angle and VA angle.

It says trying to connect to radio #2
unable to connect....retry...press escape to exit

From my manual

S20 Robotic direct connect uses HP48GX 9600 baud

S20R Robotic S20 Radio requires HP48GX turbo 19200 baud (marked with orange label on front)

Matt,
The radio needs to be turned on before the instrument is in order to connect.
