Check out this amazing photo of 42 Kodiak Brown Bears on a beach at one time feeding on a whale carcass. Biggest bears in the world. I suppose we wont do those meanders today.

Among famous last words:

"I wonder where the mama bear is"?

Heard on Cartalk.

The density of the population there amazes me. Do those guys live in large social units, or did they come from a wide area for the occasion? I have always thought that bears were fairly solitary animals.

Not really a social unit. Sows of course protect and train their young, who may stay with her for 2-3 years. Sows against other sows, boars against everyone, its every bear for themself. I can't imagine the territorial dynamic going on in this situation.

And LOL, I double dare you to walk by with a fish strapped anywhere on you.

Bears are fine. You just need to learn how to get along with them.

Be especially careful with those polar bears though. Here is one checking his refrigerator wondering what sounds good for dinner.

And the caption on this one should read "Another human with fish tied to his legs. When will they ever learn".

I don't believe that igloo was built from hand cut ice blocks.

Bees are the things we have to watch out for, that and dogs. I was renovating a house for a lady once and was attacked, laugh if you like, by a Siamese cat. It was like some crazy horror movie...had to beat it off with a broom. Glad it was not a bear.

My 14-year old granddaughter spent a few days with a classmate and her family in the mountains of Colorado recently. At 3:30 a.m., she and her classmate were sitting in lawn chairs outside their motel room in a small town when a black bear comes strolling up the street. Both girls freaked out and charged inside ASAP, thus waking everyone else. Chaos ensued as everyone wanted to see the bear without it seeing them.

I'm guessing it's a kit from the Arctic Depot.

I fish with bears pretty frequently. Had a black bear down around the bend today, to far for a good shot with a point and shoot.

I posted this before, one of my best bear shots, this big brownie had been fishing next to me and gorging on sockeye salmon. I was about 10 feet away when I shot this photo I call "Salmon Overdose". A copy is hanging in my office as many days I feel kinda like this sow looks.
