I doubt I'd ever benefit from the Redneck Retirement Plan some people call a lottery.?ÿ If I were fortunate enough to benefit, I'd set aside a small amount, and give the rest to causes like St. Jude and Shriner's Hospital for Children.?ÿ For me its all about helping kids be kids inste4ad of having to deal with adversity at a young age.

I'd probably just keep surveying until the money was gone.?ÿ

Seriously, I'd keep working. I'd shorten up on the work weeks and take more vacations. I'd be more selective about the jobs and the clients. I'd use the best equipment and software without regard to price.?ÿ And, chances are, I'd become highly profitable doing that.?ÿ?ÿ

That would depend on the size of the lottery winnings.?ÿ Really.?ÿ Winning a million or two would not be enough.?ÿ Winning $243 million would probably put me in the graveyard.?ÿ It would have to stay completely anonymous with the money going into banks far from home until I could figure out how to give almost all of it away.

With large sums of money comes large amounts of responsibility.?ÿ In1973 one of the country's wealthiest people, J. Paul Getty, had a grandson kidnapped and held for ransom.?ÿ Here's a tidbit on that:

John Paul Getty III; born?ÿEugene Paul Getty III; November 4, 1956?ÿƒ?? February 5, 2011)?ÿwas the grandson of American oil tycoon?ÿJ. Paul Getty, who was once the richest man in the world. While living in?ÿRome?ÿin 1973, he was kidnapped by the?ÿ'Ndrangheta?ÿand held for a $17?ÿmillion ransom. His grandfather was reluctant to pay, but, after his severed ear was received by a newspaper, he negotiated a payment of $2.2?ÿmillion, and Getty was released five months after being kidnapped. Getty developed an addiction to drugs and alcohol soon after, eventually leading to an overdose and?ÿstroke?ÿwhich left him severely disabled for the rest of his life.

Javad Auto-Post.?ÿ It posts three times and takes the average of the three. Leica and Trimble only post once, and they can't even post from a forest.?ÿ?ÿ

The proof is in the pudding.?ÿ He has so many kids he has to take his shoes off to count all of them.

@holy-cow sounds like post traumatic stressƒ??it took his skin flint Grandfather 5 months and a severed ear to negotiate the ransom down.

No, but I would trade in equipment faster and sub-out the drafting. If there was a project I liked, I would buy it just so I could survey it.?ÿ

I would buy a full set of each major brand and do the same medium difficult job with each of them just to find out which is really best.

With all this talk about what to buy and which charities to give to, I say spend half of it on wine, women and song and then waste the other half.

Winning the lottery would not change my lifestyle a bit. I love what I do, and even more important, all that walking carrying a rover keeps me very healthy. I think of it as going to the gym all day, five or six days a week, and the clients pay me to do it.

Really, if I won the lottery I'd pay it on my wife's MasterCard.?ÿ Then I'd call them and tell them I'll send the balance when I get it.

If I won enough money, post tax, to carry me for another 30 to 35 years, leaving myself $1 million a year in cash to live on, I don't know that I would quit, but I would definately change the way that I do things.

I'd buy a rock star style tour bus with a remote access office set up (The CIA style set up from movie Meet the Faukers comes to mind) and spend my time on the road with a paid driver going from one place to another.

I can't see myself ever retiring until I have to, I'm just not built to completely relax, I need something to keep mymind busy.

Ha, my last post would be a Good bye.

?ÿ

One time my employer, early on, was giving me grief about wasting money on a lottery ticket. He wanted to know what I would do if I won. "Name your price," I said, " I'll buy the business from you, fire the people you won't and sell it back to you for a song!" Spent 20 years there!?ÿ

I would offer my services to an archeology department doing cool stuff in the American west, and spend some of the money supporting their efforts, and some of it seeing that SWMBO wanted for nothing while I was on the dig.
