How is your workload?
Mine is fair... or just better than fair. We are not busy by any means, but everyone is getting fed.
Been busier than last year this time in Central Oklahoma with my 'anchor' clients. Lots (no pun intended) of property seems to be changing hands after the first of the year, both residential and commercial.
If this trend continues 'til spring, might put on another crew..
Really have had the last month and a half "off". Been pretty quiet.
But the phone is ringing again.
Just finished my first job for a Mexican. On site now waiting for the 50% balance due cash payment.
Collected the 50% cash retainer and signed contract on site two days ago.
Even managed to ward off another outfit willing to do the work for 65% of my fee.
I have done a lot of work for the Latino community over the years. They are great about paying, most pay up-front in cash and don't have to be told to.
busy and fortunate - 3 SUE crews, 2 distribution crews, 2 tramsmission route crews, 2 boundary and misc crews
My phone hasn't rang since the beginning of December. It's usually slow here in SE Wi. this time of the year, but this is ridiculous. Heck, I've been calling myself just to see if the phone is still working.
It's been OK so far this month, but that is after a horrid latter half of November and December. Its come and gone in spurts over the last year+. I'll have one pretty good month followed be 2 wretched ones. Normally I can keep the crew at least half time, but months like the last one are hard to get through. It does not help that there are plenty of unemployed licensed individuals that are willing to do the work for half of what I need to charge due to my overhead..
Getting by. When one door closes, the Lord opens another.
"Getting by. When one door closes, the Lord opens another."
Pretty much sums it up...
Busy with good paying work.
I love working for Mexicans. They pay on time and with cash most of the time. They don't bitch about the fee and they appreciate when you help them out. I think I'll go get some tamales for dinner now that I think about it.
Slowing Down.:-| Finishing up some loose ends here and there.;-) Revisiting cad standards and revising company templates.|-) Financing dropped out on a big job for Feb-May.:-(
We will see how it all shapes up.
came in to four new projects on the faxtrola last week. first time that's happened in years.
if this keeps up, i might be able to pay for my truck.
Andy, speaking of your truck, I must have missed the photos of your diamond back?
Just today got the email.. shipment was delayed due to some factory issue. should be here Monday morning. can't wait!!
Slow, and I'm enjoying a lot of time off. We were frugal when we had it so we are not suffering. I know many who are though. It is tough out there.
Lots of small stuff...nothing big at all.
But the small stuff keeps coming, so I'll take it.
Between the devil and the deep blue sea right now, waiting on the word on two contracts, either one will keep us in beans and rice through July. Both would provide some salsa, either one would be fine, neither isn't a sustainable option.
Just finished my first job for a Mexican
That's highly progressive of you.
Ralph
Busy! fixin' to fire up in Nome here in May, got a lot of design work yet to do!

Working 7 days a week and loving it, this time last year, I was sitting on my arse with nothing at all.
