We are doing a asbuilt boundary topo survey of a large industrial site. The parking lot promises to be empty today...the weather is decent....we are going to lay into it.

Might finish off a proposal for a division for a nearby town. Going to see "True Grit" at 2:20, so I'm not sure what I'll get done.

Have fun Sam!

Yes. The plan is to put in about half a day then maybe, just maybe, play nine holes before the Christmas celebrations begin.

Merry Christmas all.

I always have SOMETHING to do that is work related. Catching up on billing will be top priority.

Firing up the plotter to plot yesterday's survey. We're hosting the holiday tomorrow, so I'm on crowd control (8 and 6 year old), bathroom detail, and whatever else is delegated by SWMBO.

prepare 3 invoices and 1 FC.
I dd the bank and other stuff yesterday after a 2 hr soccer practice in the morning.

Sam, you have a family business so it is not out of the ordinary to work when you have to work like holidays and weekends etc.
Being an industrial site, it looks like the optimum situation to get the work done in a timely and profitable manner.

butwouldst
If you had non-family employees, I think it would..pardon the word...suck to have them work today. Also, if I was doing a residential site, I would consider delaying to next week.
I do work for the school board and they schedule a lot of campus work until breaks etc. Some, I like to do on weekends also when the site and streets are clear of traffic etc. It is a big advantage to getting the work done without outside interference.
It would be cool, If you could pick up a Santa cap or two and wear them. I don't know if they come in safety colors.

🙂

Sure. Still learning to fly my little helicopter.

Oh, you mean a regular real job! I wish.
Merry Christmas to Clan Clemons.

Not today. We were scheduled to do the family Christmas today. Lousy weather. Moved it to Sunday.

Now I'm doing some paper work and catching up on the details of a couple jobs I've been ignoring. We will put in a couple of days next week on a topo at a school planning to build a baseball field and associated facilities. No kids or staff to annoy us.

I'm taking next week off so I'll go in for a while and send out a bill I forgot to do yesterday and see what the mail lady brings and take it to the bank if there's anything good. Also, I think I left my cell phone at the office so hopefully it's sitting on my desk. Otherwise, I don't know where else to look.

no.

taking next week off. I asked boss yesterday and he said may as well, everyone else is.

I have a lot of time on the books so I will burn off some more but will still have a lot of time on the books.

At least it's paying work!

No, Hunting.....

Had a good morning. Daughter Stephanie and me.

She's become quite the hunter, bagged this 11 pointer on opening day, using a 243 at 190 yards.

She's got deer jerky marinating as we speak.

Negative ghost rider, the pattern is full. In fact, its full until next year. I did work a bit on the barn today checking parts and doing a bit of welding and wind bracing. Monday we are going to kick it off with power tools and beer! 🙂

Should have. Wife had me working more around the house than I would have at the office. But all in all good day with the family in preparation for the rest of them coming over in the morning.

Yes, was out of bed at 3:30 a.m. replying to two dozen emails that hit the fan yesterday, while I was on the road.

Seems the client 'engineer' bothered to leave his office and actually look at the jobsite, which has been shut down for production since last Friday due to knee deep mud. The client's operations manager came out that day and said we could no longer work cranes on this project until we were either staged on mats or the site was stabilized with liming and rock.

Anyhoo, this supposed QA/QC guy shows up at 10:30 yesterday, TOTALLY IGNORES site conditions, and declares "there are major problems with cage and pile elevations", my area of responsibility. There are 4 different pile types, specific top of pile elevations per design at each structure, and (at this time) 17 different top of cap elevations, some of which conflict with pile types and were resolved over a series of RFI's over the past two months.

This clown knows NOTHING about any of the details that went into all this. He walks out, sees all the rebar projecting above grade is not identical, and declares there is a problem.

I get up at 3:00, put the coffee on, and am greeted with this massive pooch screw. I have 6 people representing 4 different companies screaming for my head on a platter, and am still working at 7:30 PM trying to explain the situation without sounding like I'm making excuses.
