Everyone stay safe out there, we are busy knocking snow off trees this morning, trying to save them, I know this junk will move east and dump rain and more moisture on areas that don't need anymore.

As bad as winter never leaving here is, it's worse where the downstream areas get all the flooding.?ÿ

mm 108

They still have the roads open, maybe not for long.?ÿ

Travel safe!!

Yup, woke up to a winter wonderland here this morning too. Not as much snow as you got, and it's pretty much all melted now.

Like they say here, "July, August, and Winter!"

We have had an unusually rainy and cool May with record rainfall totals, very unusual.?ÿ I had to light the furnace pilot; I turned it off because we had a 90 degree week in April.?ÿ Not looking forward to the sudden 60 to 100 we will probably get.

I was looking at the highway cams this morning and saw this one just east of Sundance:

off road

I figure this wasn't the only off-road adventure this morning, more snow tonight.

Inland empire here has been enjoying a very wet and cool May. I'm a bit worried that we'll get hot early this year. Usually June has a number of "June gloom" days with fog/clouds in the morning and not too hot in the afternoon.

Usually May has a heat wave then June cools off.?ÿ Not sure what will happen this year.

We live in an old concrete house, no air conditioning, as long as we stay below 100 I can keep it in the 70s inside, especially if we get a cool evening breeze.?ÿ Over 100 we get into the mid-80s inside which isn't too bad; electric bills are cheap in the summer which is the good news.

I was chatting with a friend yesterday, we were looking out the window at the snow/rain falling, her and her husband just got back from a week in the Fort Myers area. She said the weather was perfect while they were there, they can't wait to go back.

Me, I'm going to the big Island in August. It's usually cooler there than here.

By "Big Island" I'm assuming Hawaii. Been there twice and love Hilo as much as Kailua- Kona. Hope you or y'all have a great time!

ps: Don't bring any lava back from Kilauea, The Volcano God's will put a HOO-DOO on you. ????

Not my idea of pleasant weather.?ÿ I like 50-80 F, and can dress for 20F, but 90's are just miserable, and you probably have humidity to match.

Ha, I will avoid any glowing lava, the cool stuff is difficult to avoid. Hawaii in August doesn't make much sense, but I'm scheduled to be in Fla in December, hopefully it will be nice there unlike last time I was there and it was COLD!!

I HATE the heat (anything over 80?øF), and can dress for just about any cold (although I try to stay inside when it's below 0?øF).

Evanston

The weather in Evanston keeps the population reasonable.

Cockroaches? We have tons of 'em. They are best prepared like shrimp, just throw them in boiling water for about 3 or 4 minutes, drain, heavily sprinkle Franks Hot Sauce all over 'em and serve over a pile 'o grits.

You can also pan fry them but you have to use a splatter screen to keep them in the pan while frying. You can usually count on a dozen or so escaping if you use this method. However if you prefer the "crunchy" taste (like Cheetos) pan frying is best. They taste like almonds and are full of protein. Yum! ????

Going off on a tangent here...My daughter lives in Mexico and she loves to eat grasshoppers...I was visiting her in March and there was a guy on the street with a huge bucket of grasshoppers (fried, I think) with chili and lime sauce. So we bought a bagful. Not too bad...

The Palmetto bugs are good too.  They're kinda like roaches but bigger.  Your weather predictions look a lot like ours for the next week.

Palmetto bugs are much slower than roaches thus easier to catch. The problem is they don't have large communal living facilities like roaches so it takes much longer to catch a panfull.

The Chinese actually grow them for consumption:  https://www.scmp.com/news/china/society/article/2142316/giant-indoor-farm-china-breeding-six-billion-cockroaches-year

The bottom is an aluminum Omni triple prism -30mm offset and the top is an aluminum Sokkia omni style prism holder that is 0.03?ñft different.

I would take in swap most anything for the odd Sokkia holder.
