Great picture of one of the more majestic birds.

Many years ago a pal & me were sitting around by a lake in the woods and got to admiring the birds. He asked me ".. if you were a bird what kind would you want to be.."

I replied "...I guess a Golden Eagle. Top of the bird food chain, and after all they do 'soar like an eagle'.."

He replied "...naw, I'd rather be a hawk. They're still high up the food chain, don't eat carrion, and since there are so many more of them... you'll be able to laid more often...".

Not bad logic, and I still laugh about it.

These guys have made a huge comeback around here in the last 20 years. You used to hardly ever see them now it is a common occurrence. They are truly awesome.
