You have to get the lens aligned just right -- alignment is pretty finicky -- but it's certainly doable, and you can get some interesting shots.
I've got some good ones from when I was plumbing steel on a hospital and I have the cross-hairs on an iron worker.?ÿ He thought that was pretty cool when I text it to him.

Here's one I took of a couple of steeplejacks installing a radio antenna.?ÿ I have the gun turned to the design alignment angle for the FCC certification.?ÿ The antenna manufacturer nailed the construction; the central element is splitting the vertical hair.
The installers are about 300' (horizontal) from me and 190' above ground.
I shot this for elevation of the light at top. I found it about 10 m higher than the FCC data base. (Dunno if FAA cares.)
