Yesterday we went back out the the WCMC that was in danger of being disturbed by natural forces so as to set a Witness Point on the East/West section line to help anchor it and this is what we found to have occured .
That's what happens when your monument is too big
Did you get the urge to jump over there and retrieve your freshly set monument? Hope not.
Dang! Alaska moves even quicker than California. I recall Paul Cook from the old board living on a hillside that was moving at something like 4" per year.
Those pic. are great! To see it all from the air. I think I need a drone.
You guys use your best Chuck Norris imitation when you hammered that thing in the ground? Geeesh... go easy on it. Just "taaap it in - tap, tap, taaaap it in."
;o)
JBS
[sarcasm]I knew that would happen, but you WOULDN'T quit screwing around with that machette, would you??? NOOOO - had to keep it up... ;-)[/sarcasm]
Actually - those are a pretty cool photographic record. Thanks for posting all the cool pics of your adventures.

Thanks for checking em out...The video camera died so the machete gets to stay sheathed... I'm kinda stuck with stills for a while
I'm looking forward to a day off sometime soon so I can get sheathed too...this 4 hours a night sleep is starting to wear...I'm really feeling a bit wasted lately...
...
That's cool stuff. In the second picture you can see the crack at the sea edge had already began on your first visit.
I agree with JB. Use a small hammer why don'tcha.

If yall keep driving witness points and such in that land there's gonna be nothing left but a pile of rubble soon. 😉
Woow!
these giant pieces are moving fast!
very nice scenery,
thanks for sharing,
Chr.
Great Pics !
Is this how you keep your beer cold by stuffing it into an icy crevasse ?
On a more sober note......
What is the day temp and how are the mosquitoes/black flies ?
Cheers,
Derek
As usual...great pics and very interesting story!
Looks like to me you caused that to break off.....should you be fined for disturbing that monument??
We run into monuments along the Tennessee river that are either destroyed or in danger of being destroyed by erosion. We have noted places where the erosion is averageing greater than 1 foot a year.
