I sat for the PS exam and the SS exam today. I am so grateful that I was able to have my books delivered to me during lunch break because I had no idea that the Washington state specific exam is still open book, as it has always been. There were other people at the exam that did not have their books and I feel sorry for them, its not fair. There is nothing that I can find on the website for the Washington exam that affirms that it is open book, it is a very confusing situation since you have to pay your fees with the NCEES website and follow all of their instructions which clearly state that the exam is not open book. Again I am so grateful that my exam was not affected

It is a little confusing...but I do remember finding it somewhere on their website. I sat for the first "closed book" for the national exam last year and the proctor failed to give us the NCEES handbook when the test started. I went up and spoke to him about it and he insisted that there was no handbook. About 45 minutes later someone came in and delivered the books to him. Fortunately, I think it was early enough in the test that it didn't affect anyone, but I'm glad we got the books because there were a handful of questions where the answers came straight out of that book.

So how do you feel like you did on the two tests?

It didn't take me long to stop reading and start e-mailing the Washington Board before the test. They were very professional and helpful through the process. I will reserve comment on the policies of NCEES until the scores are out...

Perhaps the first lesson for a newly minted PLS is to not be slow to pick up the phone and get answers to your questions.

Spot on.:good:

I found the phone number and email of the board to contact with any questions pretty quickly. Good luck on your results.
