Hello,
I would like to mount a total station (for a kind of metrology over a known point).
That short tripod is from Brunson.
Did you know any other brand that has small cheaper tripods?
Distance over the mount point is 20-30 cm . Under a bridge so taller tripod are not suitable.

That's the smallest one I've ever seen! I want one just to have one. Lol
T. Nelson - SAM
The lowest is a trivet - there is a centering pin, so use a tribrach that does not have an optical sight - might be easy to make one from an older tripod by cutting down the legs
?ÿOr buy a little one and cut it down farther for the needed height - https://www.engineersupply.com/Seco-Aluminum-Mini-Instrument-Tripod-5301-24-BLK.aspx?VariantId=f88b9601-0e04-4aa3-9434-47b78d6cc8b0&gclid=CjwKCAiAo4OQBhBBEiwA5KWu_3yEDFBkj7mPyxRkBYb8Q2QCb4HA6K5j1rZuGJA9mpQ3LN9eD7eQZxoC3xcQAvD_BwE
Drill a hole into the concrete under the bridge and epoxy a 5/8th threaded rod that protrudes 2 cm?
@johnymal I got it from a college, out of their surplus closet - it seems to have been made by maybe a machine shop
I have used a Wild one before, but they are also hard to find
For the one I have it is a thick alum disc and the little feet are threaded, so not to hard to make - maybe you could also take a?ÿ old tripod head and find the right threaded rod and make a point - or epoxy something close into the bottom to make the feet
In a pinch, can you set the Tribrach on the concrete over the mark
Let me know if you want more photos

Both these would need an adapter in addition, to reduce the thread to 5/8-11, but they exist.

Probably have to level the total station before hand because you won't see vertical plummet unless it's a laser. Make reference points and a sturdy level spot for the tri brac. Lay prone... Not sure never had to. Good luck???
Hey, you forget to include a link to the site??

You could easily make one of those out of some bolts and strips of something stiff like plywood, aluminum, or plexiglass.
Take a 5/8-11 bolt and drill a hole in the head end to fit a headless concrete nail so you have a point. A lathe would make the most accurately centered hole, but a drill press would work. Two nuts hold the long strips to this bolt. Glue the nut near the end of the bolt to fix the depth the bolt goes into the instrument or prism.
Use smaller diameter longer bolts or all-thread with 2 nuts each at the other ends of the long strips to adjust for level. Add weights if you need better stability.
Carry an adjustable wrench.
Agreed, assuming there isn't already a mark in that concrete (and assuming there is enough headroom to get a drill in to make the hole!).
If there is a mark already in the concrete then you need a method of centring onto it. You could easily make up a base jig to exactly fit the tribrach footprint and either drill or epoxy that to the concrete. Image shows something similar we use for checking tribrachs in the office (so you can turn them round through three positions whilst holding the centring).
