I'm thinking about buying a Ranger 300 with Survey Pro 4.8 (Standard & Pro registered) from a private individual. Anyone been through the process of upgrading Survey Pro to include robotics, as well? Do I have to send the unit in to a shop to have it done? Does anyone know the rough cost?

Thanks.

We just looked into it. I think it was $900 for the robotics upgrade and the same for the GPS upgrade. I would have the dealer look at it first. We decided not to do it due to the fact that our DC is not capable of hooking up to the internet. So we are still looking for something that fits our needs. Yes you do have to take it to the dealer as far as I know.

My experience is that you pay the dealer for the additional modules you want to add. The dealer will supply you with key(serial number or whatever) to activate the modules you want. The only difficult thing is that it costs plenty, but is easily done.

No trip to the shop needed. All done with a phone call / email. Last I checked it was $500 per modual and $350 to upgrade to 5.1. But your prices may vary.

Thanks for the info, guys. I'm going to get with some dealers to see if I can get a firm price quote before I buy it. I did notice that when I looked at the modules activated in the about/info screen, that the there was a place to enter a code, so I thought additional modules could be activated by a code, but I wasn't sure.

Morning Bud,

Make sure you have Survey Standard and Survey Pro checked in the registration window prior to ordering since the program itself is called survey pro. To upgrade from Survey Pro to Robotics will cost you $800.00 and to add the GPS module, which will make it Survey Pro Max, will be an additional $500.00. Everything is done with code activation. You do not have to send it to a dealer if you don't want to.

As a dealer sales person, I have assisted many customers with what you are looking to do.

If you want the software to remain at version 4.8.x, you should make that clear with the dealer so that they get the correct code to begin with.

And as was said above, the software is named Survey Pro but there are modules for total station only (Standard), road layout, etc. (Pro), GPS (now called GNSS) and Robotics.

List price to go from Standard to Pro is $400
List Price to add GNSS or Robotics is $800
List Price to go from GNSS or Robotics to both or Max is $500

One year for Software Maintenance (allows you to come current with your version of Survey Pro and get all upgrades for a year) lists for $380
