It's like that Barbara Mandrell song, "I was country when country wasn't cool" except with wearing work clothes.

um...
those would be bona fide collectibles as them they were still USA made and not imported.
I did a job on Nike's Headquarters campus here in my fair city. The contract included a long list of logo'd wear that was not allowed on the job site. Carhartt was not on the list. It seems that even Nike management considers Carhartt "cool".
I have a Wrangler denim coat that is USA made. I purchased 30 years ago, maybe longer ago than that. I went to replace it and the difference is stark. I'm keeping my old one, it's better quality beat up than the new ones.
I purchased a brand new Carhartt jacket last year and it's already falling apart. My wife has one that's 15+ years old and it's still in much better shape than mine. That old quality sure is nice!
If you make things to last you don't sell as many.
Phill wants you to remember, Nike Headquarters in NOT in the City of Beaverton.
So true. But it is completely surrounded by it. So it is "within" the City of Beaverton.
I can swear absolutely that I have never had a client with such a stipulation about unacceptable attire while on the job site. The closest possibility would have had to be a school not wanting us to wear clothing proclaiming the virtues of their arch-rival, I suppose.
We do business regularly with four banks and have caps from three of them. I do make a point to NOT wear a competitor's cap while doing business with them. I have an identical issue with the livestock sale operators in my area, as I have caps from all of them.

They were so sensitive about their poor quality that they cared if you wore new balance shoes?
Rat's, I thought this was going to be exciting, like SWMBO was pregnant or something, oh no, wait, that's Nate I'm thinking of.
@flga-2-2
If SWMBO was pregnant I would have titled the post Miracle.
@mightymoe Me too movement. Wrangler blue denim 30 years and Levi orange denim 40 years. I never realized how heavy they are until I got old.
All Carharts use to be made in the USA but now lot of them are made in Mexico. Not so cool as the old ones. Problem I have is all I my old ones fit some skinny dude and not my fat a$$.
Just because I'm paranoid, doesn't mean they aren't out to get me.
@williwaw Mexico or USA, geographically little difference; beats the heck out of 'Made in China'? I missed the Carhart thing, I stuck with Hanes long-sleeve pocket tees through the whole thing. Grown in America, made in El Savador.

Oh....they were super sensitive all right. About a lot of things, not just logo wear. Cameras not allowed (this was relaxed somewhat since everybody has one on their phone, but you didn't want to get caught taking pictures with it). Not allowed to be looking at things off the job site for more than a few seconds at a time. The job site (construction) was surrounded by a high and solid plywood wall.
They were also super, super concerned with security. Identity badges were issued for all personell and the vehicles, and were checked on entry. They feel like they could be a terrorism target and don't want any details about the inner workings of the site getting into general knowledge. I've lived within 1 mile of the campus for 28 years and I really have very limited knowledge of the layout.
