It's not something to buy very often. Once every 2-3 years splurge on an item. I went to a Filson store in Dallas with SWMBO, she said she wanted to get me something. After the sticker shock she backpaddled really fast. I let her off the hook, it was kinda fun to watch her gulp at the prices.
Problem I have is all I my old ones fit some skinny dude and not my fat a$$.
I used to say that I avoided the tan Carhart coveralls in the field because wearing them I bore a striking, and somewhat unflattering, resemblance to Winnie-the-F'n-Pooh

I just say; that they must've shrunk...

@holy-cow Our crew works in a number of towns just like every surveyor. Over the years we have collected ball caps from a great number of the high school sports teams across the area - wherever we are going the crew chief attempts to wear whatever makes him look most local!
I saw yesterday that Filson is having a 20% off sale. Heavier than the synthetic stuff, but still some of my favorite clothing.
For those in hotter climates consider the double tin chaps. The advertisement I saw had a testimonial from a rancher that had the same pair for 37 years before handing them down to a shorter person as the cuffs had been worn away! Some details may vary due to memory but I have items at least 35 years old that I still wear.
They changed the formula on their tin clothing, it is no longer durable or waterproof but it is much more comfortable than the old.
They also modified their policy on repairing garments and now have an arbitrary end of life option to no longer repair.
