I'm not sure the appropriate category for this. On 3 data collectors in our survey department I have recently run into an issue with the screens becoming misaligned. There are screen protectors on two of them. Has anyone else run into this issue? If so, is there a way to correct this without having to re-align it a million times a day?

I had a loan unit for a week that did that, it had no screen protector also, and the problem got worse and worse by the day.By the end of the week, was only using the keyboard, but eventually could not go any further as could not find a shortcut to change prisms heights , had to use the touch screen which was by now 90 % dead.

The cost of replacing a screen here is SA is about R 10 000.00 ( $1200 ), my screen is also starting to get a bit iffy, I have opted to get a tsc3 rather.

$1200 for a 4" screen, can get a 59" LCD TV for that money...crazy.

We had our screen go bad on our TSC2. What you are describing is exactly what it was doing. It got so bad that we couldn't even press certain buttons on the screen. Called our trimble rep and he informed us that screen is bad. Had to send the unit in and have a new screen installed. DO not remember the cost. Call your trimble rep!

Look for the Atlas Electronics ad in the back of POB. They do a great job of repairing metal detectors at a flat rate and they have a listed flat rate of $349 to replace Ranger screens.

A posting a couple of weeks ago concluded that many here have had good service from them.

Actually check the screen protector. I just sent my TSC2 in for the same reason. Tech called me this morning and told me the screen protector I have is a hard one and could have gotten harder due to the hot weather/age. He took the protector off and it worked great. Added a soft screen protector and cleaned it up for us and is sending it back. $112.

Weve had to send in 4 or 5 of ours all for the same reason. If someone can do the same replacement your dealer would do, I'd check in to it.

Thank you sooooo very much for your post about the screen protector. I was headed down to my Trimble dealer in the morning to get the screen replaced on my TSC2. Pulled the old protector off and it's like new again. That just saved me close to $700. I owe you a BIG one.

Thanks again,
John
