I just started a company that use R10's and Trimble Access
I'm a LONG TIME Topcon user.
I'm hearing from the Crew Chief's that they see 0.08' of vertical fluctuation all the time.
What???
Using Hiper V's and Hiper GA's I never had these issues.
I'll be taking some gear home to play with and experiment with.
These guys are afraid to stake with GPS because of this.
My crews (and me) have been staking everything except curb with Topcon GPS for years.
Any suggestions as to what to look for in the Trimble Access software to help remedy this?
Any recommended Video's/Articles I can examine?

TIA
Bo

That .08 is a number I see alot on my R10. It must be an indication it's gots some problems computing a point. I just wait Abit and it finally goes down to .01 feet. I can't pound a rebar in to a .01 foot, so to me anything under a tenth is fine. I'm not building a watch.

I've been warned away from using the R10 with Trimble Access on a TSC2. There just isn't enough computer power in the older data collectors to make it work smooth, if you have a TSC3 then never mind.

As a R10 user.I suspect you are using a VRS network to get those errors. If it is a VRS well then, it is what it is. Base/Rover you should be .02 vertical any day of the week.

Remember though - it's GPS and its weakness is vertical. If it matters, dust off the level and get out the RiteintheRain Data Collector.

I'm told this is what they see with the base/Rover combo.
I just need to learn the gear for my self and figure out what to really expect.
Thanks!!

There are a few settings that could affect the residuals - keep in mind the end user is the biggest residual. 0.08' is not bad in some situations.
