I updated the firmware after REMOTE MONITOR ACTIVE message to 7.32. Now it says RTK only and data logging not available. I have other trimble 4000 and none of them has this issue. Anybody encountered this problem? Any solutions?
Did this receiver have data logging enabled prior to the firmware reinstall? Data logging was an option, and not all 4000SSi units were sold with it enabled.
I bought it some weeks ago and it came with the message REMOTR MONITOR ACTIVE, so i don't know. The model is 4000DS.
I don't know much about the DS. I believe it's a single-frequency unit.
you need to replace the internal batteries and this will fix the active monitor issue. You may need to log data to an external device.
Yes i did replace the batteries and installed firmware. I think Jim i right and there isn't an option for data loging at all.
You need additional ram installed to log data, this is something that you can check for when you power on the unit
My understanding of the 4000SSi model is that they all come with 256K installed, but that logging access to that RAM (and any additional RAM) has to be authorized by the factory or an authorized dealer. I assume there's some special software required to accomplish this. I know that in 2001 I paid $500 to get logging authorized along with a small RAM upgrade.
If it doesn't have logging enabled now, I would think it nearly impossible to get it enabled as they no longer support that model.
A friend of mine suggested that it may be possible to connect TDC and log data to it. What do you think, will it be possible?

Realistically about your only option. TDC or TSC1 with the survey style configured to log to the controller. As John Hamilton points out, you won't be able to to purchase the option from Trimble any longer.
