Hi,
Has anybody being able to get the bluetooth to work with Topcon Magnet under Windows 8.1? I am running it on a Panasonic FZ-M1. I can't seem to connect to my Hiper II.
Thanks
Anthony
I'm currently running Magnet on a FC500(not sure what version Windows) with the Hiper SR receiver and haven't had any problems connecting the Bluetooth. However, I am having trouble keeping it connected to my Total Station. If the instrument battery dies I have to exit Magnet and turn Bluetooth off and back on and then open Magnet back up and it usually will connect back up. Magnet seems to have a glitch in the Bluetooth connections.

Anthony,
You need to remove the Toshiba Bluetooth driver and go to Panasonic website download new Bluetooth driver. Topcon has bulletin on this. Your dealer should know about it.
Also you may be interested in a better pole mount for your Toughpad FZ-M1. Here us one I made.

Hi Lee,
The FZ-M1 I have is running an Intel driver for the bluetooth, I tried changing to just the generic bluetooth driver and that did not seem to work either. The work around I came up with was to disable the on-board bluetooth and insert a USB one. It seems to be working great now with the only downside of having the USB port exposed. I will try and install the panasonic driver you suggested.

Hi there molsen,
We have been evaluating the above inquire at the same time working with TTS, and we have come to the conclusion that the issue is the BT drivers from the thoughPad, so please installed the driver attached bellow.
Unzip file and place anywhere on the thoughPad's hard-drive and execute the set up file.
Happy Surveying,
~J

Javier,
This is Steven Meier. Matt Olsen is off today and I am trying to install the driver you posted yesterday. When I try run the executable I get a message stating "A newer version of Intel(R) PROSet /Wireless Software for Bluetooth(R) Technology is already installed. Setup will now exit". What can I do to install the older driver if that is what you think is the correct thing to do?

Ok, in the case lets uninstall the current version of software and then install the above driver.
For this procedure please follow bellow instructions:
On desktop screen, press and hold the windows logo on the button left previously known as the start menu.
Release this icon when a square image flashes the icon.
Select Program and Features
and uninstall the software for the BT module... best known as .... Intel(R) Proset/Wireless Software for Bluetooth(R) Technology (oh well, that was a mouth full..)
and then proceed to install the driver given above.
mate we had a very similar issue with the new FZ-G1's using the intel chipsets, the only way i could get it to work was using a USB dongle but as you say thats isnt a real solution. Not sure why they changed from toshiab bluetooth with the toshiba chipsets because it has been bullet proof for years mate.
So what i found was another way to get Toshiba Bluetooth to work with the on board chipset (Bluetooth).
Send me a message with your email address and i will zip it up and upload the version of Toshiba Bluetooth you need, its of a toshiba laptop but works just fine and connects to all our jiggers and robotics using the on board bluetooth chipset because the one that comes with the new MK2 toughpads and windows 8.* is pathetic to say the least.
For an industrial toughbook/toughpad the Bluetooth is critical for operating equipment out in the wildlife.
Cheers JG
PS:Not sure if you can send message to users?, if not shoot em the email address here and i will email you the download link mate.
Thanks for all the responses.
I ended up going to the Intel website and downloading a driver for a similar bluetooth device and it seems to be working fine now.

No worries but remember toshiba is 10 times better and gives you more options than the Intel drivers.
the choice is yours mate, our issue was Carlson sending the disconnect command when you exited the Field/Point store menus. If you used the field function menu it worked but using the drop down from the menu didn't work and we had to wait a minute every time. Image how pi**d off the surveyors got after doing that a few hundred times plus the loss of productivity.

JohnG,
I just purchased a FZ-G1 toughpad and am having the same issues that you were. I can get the bluetooth to connect to the Topcon GCX2 unit and the RC5 unit only once. Once you disconnect from either of these units you no longer can reconnect. You have to delete the bluetooth driver and reinstall it and then you can connect again, only once. What was that driver you got to work with your tablet. Were you running windows 8.1? Right now I am dead in the water and I have some critical layout to do here in the next couple of weeks. Thanks for any help you can provide.

I'm running Magnet on a FC500 with a DS, I used to have to do exactly the same thing, exit Magnet to reconnect, of late I've just been gone to connect and disconnected from the instrument and then pressed reconnect, its a little quicker than exiting Magnet and loading up again.

I can get you the correct driver. Call me or email me so I can send you the Driver, see my web page. http://www.LeeGreen.com&apos ;">www.LeeGreen.com
There is an older driver that works much better. Also an uninstall is not enough to remove driver. You need to delete driver from Device Drivers, Then UnInStall The Intel ProSet Wireless software before installing
Win8_BluetoothSoftwareDriver_v3.1-pv3-wwbtw0430_3.1.1307g_M1C_W764_ss15498.exe
Also a big key keeping the bluetooth working, is to do a proper shut down of Windows after EVERY USE. Even in between setups. This keeps the driver stack clean. A simple click of the off button, is only putting the device in sleep mode. You need to actually power down the device. It boots fast, so no worries
