I recently picked up a Topcon GTS-3B. I like the gun, other that the EDM being slow. I am trying to set the PPM and check the prism constant. It didn't have a manual. It does have a round card to dial in the correction from the pressure and temp.

For the PPM, am I correct in assuming that I rotate the dial on the bottom right of the instrument to the PPM correction from the card. This is done while sighting a prism and activating the EDM by pressing the second button prom the bottom. Two numbers are shown on the screen, on the left, a number that changes as it measures to the prism and on the right, a number that changes as I rotate the dial.

Have I got this correct?

I think, prism constant is set under a cap on top of the scope. I shouldn't have to change that, should be -30, but would like to double check.

Thanks.
Mark

Set 3 points on a straight line; set up on the middle 1 and measure to the other 2; set up on one of the others and measure the total. The math should work, or you're doing it wrong.

Or take it to a calibrated base line.

I have the manual, and I've scanned the section you need. I just can't figure out how to attach it to my post or attach it to an email sent through the site. Click on my user name and send me an email. I will attach the pdf to my reply.

Sorry, I forgot that I had set mine to be non-contactable. I copied your address and sent the file a few minutes ago. I would suggest that you edit your post to remove your email address so that the spammers can't harvest your address.

Once you posted a reply to his post containing the email address, he couldn't edit it. You should have replied to one level higher so your post was at the same indent level as his.

Sorry for the confusion. Mark put his email address in the body of his post because I had my email set to non-contactable in my profile. I was trying to let him know to remove his address from his post - not his profile

Good to know, I'll delete my reply so that he can edit his post. Thanks.
Edit: Too late, Wendell replied to my comment. Maybe Wendell can edit Mark's post to remove the address.
