I have installed Ashtech softare on my computer which has Windows XP. When I try to "download from receiver" I get this message: "Create Dispatch Interface Failure: Invalid Class String". Has anyone heard of this? How can I get this older software to work?
I can't help you with the error message, but can tell you that I have the Ashtech Solutions Software running on my Windows XP computer and don't have any problems downloading my Promark 2s.
What Ashtech software are you talking about? Ashtech Solutions or GNSS Solutions? You realize you can download the latest version of the later from the ashtech ftp site for free right? It also comes with the latest ashtech download program...
I ma using Ashtech Solutions 2.7.
I'd still recommend you download the latest GNSS Solutions, since the Promark 2 is L1 only. You can run it alongside Solutions 2.7. If this software doesn't download the Promark 2 the way you expect, you probably have other computer issues.
I don't have any trouble getting Ashtech Solutions to run on my XP or Vista....I do have a helluva time getting the ProMarks to download with a USB to serial. It just doesn't like it.
Repeated attempts and changing port settings usually proves successful.
I download Huskey FS2's & Trimble 4000SSE's to a Windows XP machine via serial cable. A couple of years ago I started having problems with bad connections and timeouts on transfers. I've discovered that if I first go to the Device Manager and disable, and then re-enable the com port that I plan to use, everything goes smoothly. I suspect that an application is monitoring the port and this procedure gives full control of the port to the download software.
I think usb-serial converters still use a com port so you might have luck with a similar solution.
When I download my PM3s I have to hook them up in the proper order or they won't work.
1. PM3 on
2. go into Survey
3. plug the USB cable in.
4. Start the download utility.
5. Connect Cable command.
Once I have downloaded the first then can leave the download utility up, disconnect the receiver and connect to the next one (turned on and in survey). For some reason for the first one the USB has to be connected first.
