Is there anywhere online that I can access .GFF format geoid models for use in Topcon Magnet Field.

I have many in .GGF Trimble format, and can access the .GEO formats from the NGS site; but the converter in TopLink doesn't recognize those formats. Maybe a converter that could convert these to .GFF would be helpful as well.

Any assistance or direction would be appreciated.

Cheers!

Go to ngs site and download G2012BU0.bin it covers the continental US.

GFF files are for Pocket3d and harder to find.

Just looked at your profile and noticed your in Jamaica.?ÿ

What Geoid are you looking for?

Magnet can use many formats.

This is what I done after my Topcon dealer incorrectly told me I needed to upgrade my data collector to get an update geoid file.

If you download Magnet Office Tools from the Topoon Care website and when going through install prompts select the geoid file you need. Then go to the location that geoid file is installed and copy to your data collector.

@leegreen

Hi. My name is Jason. I'm a Surveyor in Northern Maryland. I am trying to download and install a new geoid file to Topcon Magnet Field controller. I have been to NGS, but not sure what to download and how to convert to Magnet friendly format. Any advice? Thanks!

No conversion needed. Use the **.bin file at https://www.ngs.noaa.gov/GEOID/GEOID18/downloads.shtml

#4 le

You need to find where your geoid files reside in your device.

For me its C:ProgramDataMagnetGeoids

Drop the .bin file in this folder. Then it will be available to select in your project configuration.

See attached. GFF files is for Topcon machine control. bin is for Magnet survey system for Topcon. you don't need to have a paying Magnet tools, the demo version works for this. just download from topconpositioning.com or mytopcon.com register a free account and download. By the way i'm with the Topcon dealer in Florida. Will be more than happy to supply you with stuff whenever you are in Florida.
