That is exactly what I have with the black coating on my red 98 gmc. It gets a lot of compliments and was easy to install.

Congratulations, you will love it!

Brad, thanks! I think I saw your pics on flikr when I was searching around today. I'll be sure to post pics when I get it set up.

I've started on it. I'm using 1/2" for the "shelves" and 1/4" for everything else. I'm screwing through the 1/4" plywood to attach the shelves. The Angle iron is attached with 1/4" bolts/nuts through the wood, and it's just around the edges to strengthen it up a little. I've got the main part about 3/4 done today it seems fine.

Consider steel shelving...

Probably a bit larger than you would need for your application, but consider using steel shelving. I salvaged and modified Adrian steel shelving from a cargo van I had and melded it with a drawer unit and some woodworking...

That's the nicest rig on earth, it was featured in Dan Beardslee's book.

Don't hire me, I might leave a sandwich on your dashboard:-)

Cheers

The thinner the better

A box with six 1/2" vertical dividers loses 3" of truck bed. That's a significant portion of turning a full size truck into a mini truck.

Consider steel shelving...

Looks great, but the problem I can foresee is that there is no dirt, old flagging, bent nails, broken lath, a splash of errant orange paint, or anything else that we've all come to love and respect. It's a work truck, not a kitchen counter...:-P

...just sayin'

Thank you!

Some of my point here is the same as Dan's and why my truck was in his book; image, advertising, marketing, professionalism, etc.

Some of those photos at Highway Products would give my truck a good run for the money though, they can build some pretty cool stuff and only around a three hour drive from me, will definitely have to check them out when the time comes for a new vehicle.

And yes, my dash has never had a sandwich on it!

I guess I was on too many crews that smelled like a garbage dump, chicken bones under the seat, soda cans rolling around under my feet....

Truckbox 1.0
I'm on my third truck with this one. Almost 17 years! I have always gotten compliments on having all my gear so organized.

check out these photos...not bad and they gave me a free T-shirt for taking "action shots lol. http://www.flickr.com/photos/diamondbackcovers/6837135165/

one question I have is if you power wash your truck, how do you keep the water out? I've tried tightening bolts etc... and still nothing. Also, any ideas for a box??? my old box is a frankentstein of a box that was built for a regular camper top.

thanks
