@holy-cow

Around here, the railway has absolute right to their corridor.

If your stock gets hit, it is your fault, and you can expect to get a bill from them...

Not as interesting as dead bodies or planes, but found axe head and other sharp tool ? while looking for a "drove iron gas pipe".

Didn't find pipe but it should have been very close to where the tools where laying.

@rtkman

I once found a worn out plow share buried in a vertical position.  This was amazingly close to a calc'd 64th. corner by less than half a foot.  The boss discounted it as junk.  A week or so later into the project I found another buried share about the same time an old deed was discovered that actually called for the shares at the corners.

You never know what you'll find until you start digging. 😉

Another crew in our area noticed a guy on the ridge watching them brush all day. They went up the hill to talk to him thinking he might be an irate neighbor and found out he was someone who hung himself from a tree. Because of the elevation variation looked like he was standing on the ridge. ick!

A few things come to mind, ?ÿthe occasional marijuana patch (back before it was legal), a six pack of cold beer behind a large rock on the side of the road (we drank them), dollar bills hung up in blackberry bushes. Nothing really extraordinary ????

Iƒ??ll have to think about this. Been a while ???

Did not take any photos today but I saw quite a number of sink holes near the site where we will be surveying two tracts.?ÿ This area was undermined decades ago for coal.?ÿ Some seams were only about three feet.?ÿ So most of the sink holes I saw were from two feet to about 15 feet deep.?ÿ One day they don't exist and the next they do.?ÿ Makes you want to drive slowly when you are unfamiliar with the land.?ÿ I cannot imagine going to work everyday to crawl in and out of such small tunnels, dig and load, and haul out the coal by hand.

This was once a cabin cruiser. It's been in need of a patch. And a fresh coat of paint. Maybe clean the caburetor. I'm taking up a collection, to get her going.?ÿ

Not as impressive as others have posted but I did a lot of work along the freeway early in my career and I found a sh?twad of tools on the shoulders (back when you walk them freely.) I also tripped over a snub nose 38, found $47 in scattered bills, and saw a big glass cannabis pipe (which I left there in the bushes where it was hidden.)?ÿ

?ÿ

The ƒ??cabin cruiserƒ? post reminded me of this boat I came across while surveying. The pond is only about 80 feet in diameter. The property had another similar boat under a shed not far from this one.

@john-putnam

Sadly it appears it was surveyors who found the remains of this young girl last week:

@spmpls

I knew a surveyor, in Nebraska, that was doing storm drain as-builts, out by the airport. Late 1970's. He opened up a manhole and found a skeleton. He waited until late afternoon to tell anyone; that way he didn't waste the whole day...

Turned out some bikers killed a woman and dumped the body in the manhole.

A guy who build his estate on the Long Beach peninsula in Washington did a similar thing for cabins on his estate (46°35'12.49", 124°06'44.78"). Have friend who met him and he invited them up to tour the place and they said it was incredible.
